Books, what are you reading right now?

First time when I read this very special book, I was fifteen, back in 1976.
I’ve re-read it a couple of times, since. It is a book to always keep close.
There’s a great documentary feature film on his life, too:

On the Mechanics of Economic Development - Robert Lucas - Nobel Prize Laureate in Economics!

I’m still trying to finish LOTR, but Tolkien’s overly descriptive way of writing is making the story progress at a very slow pace. I can’t bring myself to actually continue reading even though I like the story itself

Yeah the first time I read lotr it took me five months. I’ve picked it up again but advancing at a slower pace due to exams. Where are you exactly? The story starts to pick up after they arrive at Bree.

I’m about halfway, Gandalf just got Shadowfax as a gift. I’ve noticed that the parts with dialogues are good reads, but when they’re traveling it’s just pages and pages of describing where they’re walking

FYI, Ludlum’s Bourne books are amazing, but they are nothing like the movies. Mostly the same characters, but a different timeframe. If interested, there are a ton of Bourne books done by Eric Lustbader.

Yeah it’s a real exercise for me as I have trouble visualising descriptions in general (I once went through an entire book thinking the character had blond hair, but it turned out she had brown hair). I think it took me around 15 minutes just to understand the description of minas tirith.

I have this on my bookshelf waiting for me to make some time to read it.

I like this book because it’s not like every other guide which tell you how to live your life. For example, the art of not giving a F#uck doesn’t mean that should not give a f#uck everything. Because people who do that are mostly emotionless bastards and even psychopaths. So you should choose what is important to you and for rest of the things you can say I don’t give a f#uck… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Sounds similar to this one …
