A little joke on a regular day

I’m pulling my hair out with YouTube and Google in general!!!

Why would you use them at all?

There are alternatives.

Clients need better coverage. I’m working on getting them to push out more content and less $ to Google  And it’s working. But YT is not linked to Google and Google business pages are not linked to either. It’s a clusterfreak of a mess

Which alternatives? Tx!

Admittedly each ones’ use case and needs are different. So apparently you are using more of Google’s services than the pure search engine or mail account.

Personally, I am left with a couple of old Gmail accounts that I am using very rarely. One of them only for an Android phone which is mostly in the drawer. It is used only for some apps that I can’t get working on a de-googled device.

There is this thread in the forum for privacy respecting search engines:

For email providers:

Alternative to Youtube:

But maybe they won’t get you the coverage you might need.

For viewing Youtube videos, I mostly use:

A man goes to a funeral and asks the widow, “Mind if I say a word?”

She says, “Please do.”

The man clears his throat and says, “Bargain.”

The widow replies, “Thanks that means a great deal.”

Right, sorry, I didn’t make my point clear. I haven’t used Google for a decade and a half and was first on the DDG bandwagon. Currently, I use Qwant. I use Tutonota and Protonmail for important emails and a few Gmails for mass media stuff.

However, I’m a retired journalist helping a few startups with their communication strategies. Many don’t know how to make heads or tails of Google Ad campaigns. I’m helping them push out more content, pay local content makers, and only a little bit to Google, which I find is highly unethical in its search and pay for visibility. It’s a massive conflict of interest. I’m wrestling money away from Google into local content creators.

Sorry if I wasn’t clearer before.

And to your point, yes, those are better alternatives. I meant better alternatives than Google Ad and Marketing.

I have a OnePlus T6 and have been toying with /e/. But I found another Linux distro that has sandbox restrictions for apps. Since I still need to access Google services and those annoying social media sites, those distros might be a good alternative. /e/ doesn’t let you sandbox apps. It removes Google services. But if you reinstall Google apps, you reopen the closed door :frowning:

We don’t need to talk about here but message me about your impression. I love what these guys have done.
