At any point of time, we’re only providing the latest release. I remember reading somewhere (on this forum?) that writing “Latest Release” gives the impression that there are older releases available for download too, which isn’t the case.
Next, on the “Latest Release” page, add a button on top that scrolls down to download links at bottom.
Can be easily done with anchors; but if you need help, I’m there for it.
Linux YouTubers or YouTubers in general are so out of ideas that it has come to this point now. He says it’s one of the biggest problems… lol If a website is bad, it’s just a mild inconvenience to find the download page. If this is going to trigger you, as a Linux newbie, you have a very difficult path ahead!
Or no path at all. Not everyone who wants to try out Linux is a geek or has fun solving geeky riddles. For me (female) Debian’s terribly laid out website is one of the reasons why I don’t use it … among hundreds more reasons. Same with EOS. Although I use and love EOS on a laptop, trying to locate a download link is unnecessarily complicated.
What’s wrong about putting an easy to see and click download link directly on the frontpage? That’s what a new user should see on their first visit to your site: A big sign sying GET YOUR ENDEAVOUR HERE!!! Start download with 1 klik!
I’m more like the YT “round person”, totally confused by the website. Fortunately my EOS rolls with me into eternity since I wouldn’t know how to find the download link either.
This may be most comical post of the entire thread. It’s even funnier than my rant. And now to clean the coffee off my computer. Thank you, I really needed that to kick off my weekend.
I honestly don’t’ know why everyone is going on about this. There a are lots of other distro sites that are no different and you have to look to find the download link.
I also don’t believe a download link should be the first thing available because no one will then read any pertinent information regarding the distro. They will just download the ISO and try installing it without knowing what they may need to know or should be made aware of.
People need to read first download second! This isn’t a point & click application!
