Not sure why “Anti-Fa"scism is a bad thing and controversial nowadays but at the same time it’s certainly not appropriate for discussion on a Linux forum. It’s just bad manners to discuss religion and politics.
Go find the appropriate forum to discuss that sort of thing and we’ll all be better off, especially the OP.
To be honest, I was not coming to this forum for help with my EOS issues (when and rarely if any developed), I was coming here for the brother-hood, friendliness, the fun enjoyed by most. Since that part of the forum has been taken away, it is not needed to come here anymore. If I need help, I can get that almost anywhere on the net since this forum does not have a strangle hold on Arch help. I will not leave completely as I wish to hang around and see how much more damage can be done by the powers that be and how much further the forum will drop in use. Take care all.
Yeah i agree with you aldo I was looking for help or new important info about updates for time to time.
I was looking at new threads every day and my favorite thread “A little joke for a regular day 20xx” I’m my way to work to light up my day before work.
Sad to hear but understandable. People will push boundaries in the name of “just kidding”. The community here is one of the things that make this my current favorite OS. The support I find here is much appreciated as well. I’ve seen seen questionable stuff on the “A little Joke” thread. No doubt what got modded off was even more so.
I’ll miss the thread, but I’d rather the calories spent keeping that under control be spent on providing the assistance and information needed by Arch users like me who know just about enough to be dangerous without that help ;).
I am more thasn a bit sad that the drinking thread (What’s in your Glass Today) has been nuked; I don’t recall any problems with politics, etc in that thread. But of course, I do drink a lot.
It’s OK, though. I’m not complaining. I know how to drown my sorrows .
Perhaps because of definitions? When there are those who proclaim to be anti-fascism, yet act in a fascist manner, it makes many of us realise it’s not about being against something that’s bad, but about being tribal. There’s enough tribalism already. So I agree; it’s bad form to allow.
Nothing has been “killed”. The deed is done. The change has been made. The Lounge section still exists. The EndeavourOS Pub sub-section has been changed to Linux Lounge, though. The offending threads/topics that were full of name-calling, political fighting, and such are gone.
The “community feel we’ve had here for years" is still alive and well.
In an open-source world which proclaims freedom and working together internationally on shared projects, I don’t think AF content should trigger people. But hey I can understand, that there are some people who probably will be anyway.
A forum rule to keep out politics seems to be a solution, if moderators cannot/ are not willing to handle the workload anymore (cause it consumes their free time).
But I also think, the “hammer of deletion” was swung a little too far, on the other hand it’s a linux forum and I can understand that things should primarily revolve around this topic.
But I beg you, fascism and anti-fascism , both are political, so not allowed because we have set this rule.
So this is not about getting offended its about the Rule against political content in general.
Or do you think we will now permit anti-fascists stuff to allow fascist things?
The spirit of this community does not lie in the Lounge category. The spirit of this community lies in the thousands of posts that respond in a friendly and helpful manner, offering a warm welcome to all kinds of questions about Linux. This is what differentiates this forum from other forums. This is the spirit.
forgive me bring this up .. these words are use in modern world/internet seriously over used + 99% use incorrectly by people that no understand ( it just fit their warp world view ) there lot people in forum that they or their parents truly understand … so i agree that RUBBISH need stay out of foums + linux in general ..
