WIfi not connecting

I am a new Linux user.
I used ethernet to install endeavour os. (flash drive live boot method)
Currently using Gnome Desktop Enviornment.
Am using a USB wifi connector.
Wifi connections are visible but when i try to connect,
the loading animation happens but “Disconnected” message pops up everytime.

pls help…

Can you tell us the brand and model of your wifi stick?

Name Powered Vendor Model

phy0 on Realtek SemiconductoRTL8192EU 802.11b/g/

Is this it.

What does
inxi -aN
say?

Also have a terminal open and run:
journalctl -f

Try then connecting to your wifi. When it fails, look at the output in the terminal and see if there is anything relevant there.

Also i cant seem to access iwd main.conf to enable NetworkConfiguration.
Whenever i try to access it “permission denied” message shows up.

[peter@Peter ~]$ inxi -aN

You need to be root in order to edit system files, so try:

sudo nano /path/to/file

Also, if you are using iwd, do you have the following:

/etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/iwd.conf

with this content:

[device]
wifi.backend=iwd

?

what do i put in the place of etc

Are you using iwd or wpa_supplicant ?

how do i find out which one…if it is to be manually enabled then, i am using iwd.

cause i enabled it earlier

systemctl status wpa_supplicant
systemctl status iwd

iwd is the enabled one

Ok.

what goes in the place of ‘etc’ cause the directory is not showing

actually wpa_supplicant is the one compatible,
so pls help me with that. Ty

Please post the output of the commands above.

Ok, do as follows:

  1. sudo systemctl disable --now iwd

  2. sudo systemctl enable wpa_supplicant

  3. sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager

Try to connect to wifi and see if it works.
