It installs the lts kernel and headers and then you reboot into the lts kernel which will be in the menu. Both the current kernel and the lts would then be installed.
Yes I think that is the case. I dont know exactly how to figure that out but in nmtui edit connection it says wpa & wpa2 personal
here is journalctl -f when network manager was trying to connect to wifi

Well on box of adapter it is said the drivers support upto kernel 3.10.10 and I have kernel 6.1.1.
So will I be able to downgrade until 3.10.10?
BTW my network is wpa2

Are you sure you have password correct?
Edit: What is your desktop installed?
You can only install the lts kernel which is 5.15 something
So was the usb adapter not recognized at all without installing the rtl8192-dkms pacakage if thatâs the one you installed?
100% sure it is correct, and yes without even installing driver adapter was recognised and I got signal from network but did, not connect.
It could be random mac addressing needs to be disabled? Maybe try this.
/etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/wifi_rand_mac.conf
add
[device]
wifi.scan-rand-mac-address=no
Nope, did that rebooted, and it still goes on trying to connect, I tried with iwd it says operation failed instantly after giving passphrase.
Is there another way to diagnose problem, I have a laptop but its wifi card already works so I dont know if we can use that? Maybe unload its drivers and then insert this card?
The rtl8xxxu is supposed to replace and work. Are you using it on a desktop machine?
Maybe this helps. One other user has it working.
Ill get back to you in morning after trying this, yes Im using desktop and there is no way to get ethernet, Im using usb teathering for driver installation and such.
I dont think that will work as I have alrwady tried it as someone refered to it on my reddit post.
Well the only option is get a different desktop WiFi adapter. I use internal PCI-e cards on my desktops but hardware is newer. I do use mostly TP-Link but they have different chips.
These are the ones i use. I also have an AC1900 but they donât seem to list it on the page.
Not sure which usb TP-Link you have but this one sayâs it supports linux. Itâs hard to know because they donât really tell you what chip it has. My Pci-e cards all have broadcom.
I have tl-wn823n adapter, on box it says it supports windows mac and linux and thats why I purchased it insted of other cheaper one. A guy in my reddit post said tp link dont actually support linux well they just write it. Wish I knew it before, now Ill get adapter that is libre, any suggestions?
Itâs supposed to work with the Tp-link wn823 v1, not v2/v3.
I installed the driver and used it with kernel-lts, I usually use a non official kernel (linux-xanmod), it takes a bit of time to connect :

[sam. 24 déc. 09:02:00 2022] IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): wlan0: link becomes ready
As you can see, I started the connection at 09:01:17 and it needed 45s to be ready.
I have no idea where you get this information from. I can only go by the following.
https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/users/drivers/rtl819x
It doesnât specify that.
Edit: The only thing i know is it is in the staging drivers and not really supported well from what i can tell.
@gnu_p_linux
Maybe this one you could try.
Link becomes ready for me instantly now I will be trying to do this on lts kernel, but I dont want to stay on lts kernel.
Tried this while adapter was plugged in now Ill try with it plugged out.
