Who pays Linux in general ?
Staff, computers, …
I estimate, it is Apple, Google and Microsoft.
There is no such single entity as “Linux”.
I collected money from Apple, Google and Microsoft by court case.
You are a single Person. Linux is not. Linux is not the Linux foundation. Linux is not kernel.org. Linux is not GNU. Linux is not the FSF.
Linux is ALL of that, and much more. And all of those get money (or don’t) from different entities all over the planet.
Many people do, and I am one of them.
Kernel.org gets the money and it is much more than 1€.
The money is tax free.
Yes that is what NON-PROFIT means.
I’m lost about this post.
Are you implying that there’s something dodgy on the accepting money from different sources? People and companies etc. are free and more than welcome to give money to development open-source in general.
The fact that different areas of Linux development get part of their funding (I was not able to think better word at this moment) does not mean that companies have any word in the development, because, well, it’s open-source.
Also money goes into development, not into pockets of the developers. That’s why it’s called “non-profit”.
Someone thinks “Linux” owes them money. ![]()
I have initiated three court cases against Apple (OSX), Googel (Android) and Microsoft (Windows) at Federal Administrative Court Germany in Leipzig.
I can´t post the sum of money, that these companies have to pay.
And now you want to open one against Linux™?
Um… Why?
Do you understand that if someone else gets money for something (like creating free software for everyone to use), it doesn’t mean that you are entitled to it as well?
I am almost certain, that this is going to be thrown out from the court, because there is not such corporation, entity, whatever as “Linux”.
But of course you are free to try. But I would not be holding my breath for your success.
It seems you can’t even post for what reason you sued this companies.
This thread smells like Troll.
Filing a lawsuit against “Linux” is about as silly as suing “the internet.”
