I have a “Regular” user editing my posts. Is there an admin posing as a Regular here? If not how can this person edit any post on this forum? This is another example of “Managed by your Organization.” You can delete my account here if that s the way its going to be.
Can you share an example of a post that was edited?
Sorry. I have two forums open. That was meant for the other one
While not an admin (and not currently a ‘Regular’ (not sure why/how)), I have edited the subject of a post because the subject didn’t properly reflect the topic.
I know you said another forum, but that’s an example I’ve performed here, purely in the sense of being explanatory vs doesn’t make sense.
Random editing, never….nor the text of the post.
Actually that entirely lines up to your post on CachyOS too..but it wasn’t me ![]()
I will occasionally correct spelling mistakes in topic titles for two main reasons:
- So that they show up in search results for the same/similar problem (which they might not with the wrong spelling).
- Because I am a Grammar Nazi

I would never presume to change someone else’s words because I thought I knew better than the one who wrote it. That s just me though.
Like Rockhopper, my aim was to make it helpful for other people later.
You are saying you can change anothers post? If so, how?
The forum engine has a reputation system based on participation metrics. If the reputation gets high enough it grants additional rights e.g. editing a thread title.
Regular users can only edit the title of thread and not the post and subsequent replies
By clicking the edit icon that appears next to the topic title. It’s one of the additional functions that Regulars get, see the description - https://forum.endeavouros.com/badges/3/regular
It’s common across many Discourse fora.
If someone does make an edit that you are not happy with, you should of course complain to the admin. Regular status can be taken away if the admins deem it necessary.
Some get elevated privileges. How special, but it burns my ass that some clown thinks he can put words in my mouth.
I don’t agree with doing the second reason because not everyone’s first language is English. Not like most native English speakers speak a second language flawlessly and have perfect grammar and spelling in that language as well. The first reason is more acceptable, the second reason is a you problem.
P.S This reply about this comes with good intentions. ![]()
In what post or posts are you referring? I find this hard to fathom. Even as a moderator one wouldn’t edit someones posts. We do ask users to change their posts at times. If posts are flagged they can and do get hidden and or deleted if there is an issue that relates to the forum guidelines. Or parts of the post could be removed for those reasons.
Did you read post #3?
That being said, I change post titles sometimes. Especially when the title of the post isn’t representative of the topic of the post.
For example, if someone titles there post “I have issues”, I may change it to reflect the issue they describe in their post. Otherwise, it may not get attention from the right people.
Yes.. I can understand changing post titles sometimes. I just meant no admins would just randomly edit their posts. That’s why I asked for examples of what posts they are referring?
It was on another forum. See post #3
So the OP wasn’t referring to eos. Okay… I see and I promise I won’t edit the post! ![]()
Is there a way for edited posts to require approval of someone higher on the food chain, like what happens on StackExchange? Tbh, I’m not sure how many levels they have; it took me ages to get that far. For me, my main edits were related to formatting, especially when posting code or logs.
I don’t think so.
