Where is Gnome 44?

Yes finally somebody gets it! Gnome is lost especially without extensions. KDE has been here from the beginning and it’s default settings are underrated. It just works out of the box. We don’t worry about version numbers as they just keep coming!

Noo… its good hehe

I doubt you are going to try it

I am trying…but i need to know what extensions to install.

Hmmm, that is dangerous huh  you may leave KDE behind huh?! kkkkk

I like it clean… no extensions at all…
Once you get used to the shortcuts, at least in my use case, I don’t need extensions…

Edit: I had a six pack beer… My english is not so good at the moment … :stuck_out_tongue:

All the most important shell-extensions seem to be there for v.44, unlike when v.43 was the latest, and hottest revision of the gnome shell, only a few months ago.

I cannot vet for their functionality, but apparently some people must have tested them and approved:

dash-to-dock

dash-to-panel

caffeine

user-themes

places status indicator

:v:

I did install the browser extension for the shell extensions?

Seems you never tested Gnome before? Apart from a browser-plugin always hastily recommended by the Gnome-DE itself, you can install gnome-tweaks and gnome-shell-extensions

Only the gnome-shell-extension-manager (not shown in gnome-software, of course) will allow you to search for additional extensions to install, besides an internet-search, and apart from any web-browser.

Gnome is a really nifty system, when it comes to “publicizing” your computing-behavior and you don’t know how to restrict it from doing that. (Same goes for KDE-Plasma.)

:point_up_2:

(For anybody’s interest.)

Should you have both extensions installed?

How does it do that?

How so?

I can’t figure out how to use this extension stuff. Two different things and i can’t figure out how to install the extensions.

Make sure you have 2 things first—

  1. Gnome-Shell-intergration (for web browser)-- https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/gnome-browser-connector
  2. Gnome-Extension-Manager(Application)-- https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/extension-manager

Once you have installed the Web Browser tool—goto: https://extensions.gnome.org/local/
To see what you have currently active & start browsing for extensions…

If you already have an idea what you need-- Use the Extension-Manager & search for it.

The group I use is:
Applications Menu
Dash to Dock
Desktop Icons NG
Lock Keys
Places Status Indicator
Screenshot Tool
User Themes
Weather O’Clock

You’ve seen my desktop a number of times—looks “sort-of” Mac OS-ish

After you have things settled a bit–get Gnome-Tweak-tool…opens up lots of options

Nope, just one is enough. Either you go via browser, or you go via extension-manager when searching and installing extensions.
