Just a serious question about that. Does that mean in topics like “Share your Desktop” only EndeavourOS screenshots are allowed now? I’m actually here because the forums here are nicer to be around than the Arch Linux forums and I have some contact sometimes with people via pm’s here but if only people that use EndeavourOS are only now welcome here then that would be dissapointing.
I believe that they just want Linux related stuff on the Lounge. That means that we can still talk about other projects and also other subjects (software, config files, etc) related to Linux/ Opensource.
I already changed EndeavourOS pub into Linux lounge and browsed through the topics. I litterally removed 4 threads, the rest are still there. (Unlike the assumption that I removed a large percentage of the lounge)
It is mainly Linux and tech with a grey area in general topics.
As long as there are politics in memes etc, there will be conflicts, so I totally understand this decision. Still, I don’t understand why this ruins someone’s day, since the internet has plenty of places to post whatever crap you want 
I saw your previous posts, I did not find any of them offensive or that which could be removed. Cant speak for others though.
Yes there are plenty of places on the net and discord where they can be posted. But those places do not have the community that is there in EOS. It is THE best community in the entire Linux echo system. Fun, lively, helpful and welcoming. Go to the Arch forum/bbs and one is liable to have one’s head bitten off.
And like I posted earlier, it does decrease the footfall on this forum. This will impact indirectly the support that we get on this forum. I understand the reason behind the decision. I accept the reason but still I am sad with the result.

People who are offended by memes, got some really serious other problems. Just my 2 cent. Memes are generally political incorrect or offending by design. They are satire in the form of still life paintings.
But I’m not the one who has to manage the noise around them. If mods decide this way, we’ll have to respect that.
Well, political views, whether satire or otherwise, don’t belong in a Linux help forum. They just stir up arguments and lead into name-calling. There are other forums to express such views.
Someone always has to be the butt of a joke and that is missed by many. I have been watching standup comedy and they have mentioned things like people who use android phones or people who live alone for example and in my drunk state I have thought yeah what’s wrong with that but you have to catch yourself and realize its a joke. Yes there is truth in every joke but so what. We have to laugh at ourselves a little bit now and again. Edit: I’m not arguing with the decisions made by the mods this is just a general comment.
These days the right to be offended and not take a joke for what it is, i.e. joke/satire, has been elevated to be equal to 2nd amendment.
Be it Karen or Kevin or anyone in between.
Look at the memes, have a laugh and get some beer. If it suits your taste then some white powder too. Dont like it, leave an angry emoji or block users. Simple.
I have been using Mastadon in lieu of the “Joke a day(2026)” thread.
Mastadon does not even come close. With a forum thread we can look at posts whenever we want, even after 2-3 days. That does not happen with Mastadon. Moreover on Mastadon I get to see the latest 60 minutes of posts only. Beyond that scroll fatigue sets in. I do not plan to be on Mastadon 24 hours every days of the week.
I hope EOS never ever shifts to Telegram or Mastadon or Discord for providing support.
I respectfully urge the mods and @EOS staff to please reconsider the decision to close the thread. I will not upload any image into the new thread, I will use a 3rd party public image hosting service like ImgBB or PostImages or some other 3rd party service.
