We are saying goodbye to our Lounge category by the end of the week

When we started this project, we created it with the community in mind. With this mindset, EndeavourOS made this community its standout asset. It’s a fact that the friendly vibe over here is infamous all over the Linux space, and it is where you all shine as bright as the sun in doing that. The community has grown, and with growth, new issues arise. Since our team is very small, we cannot handle “guarding” the forum topics to our rules. The task has become too big to do nowadays. We all know…

Share Your Desktop [2026]

Looks like this thread is going to die at the end of the week when The Lounge is eliminated from the forum. I’ll miss seeing you’re desktops and sharing mine.

Considering this thread is now locked, unlisted, and frozen and two users suspended I am certain now, unlike before, this thread was the last straw that caused this. Keep in mind there are two messages that were deleted completely off that thread that started this off.

Mudita? Anyone out there?

I figured someone else out there has come across them. I’m tempted to pass on my graphene pixel 8 to my wife and go this route. I like the idea to offline more. I’m looking at the Mudita Kompakt. Appimage for use on Linux. Full opensource OS. No frills, and can side load apps as longas they don’t need google parts to run. Can do calls/text/music and even Waze if you want. I’m super interested if anyone out there has one. [kompakt_solo_eng]

Your mama (if she was like most) was right, ‘some people have to break things for everyone’ (or something similar).
Some people take offense at every possible opportunity and some people have no filter and do not hesitate to post offensive content.
I remember seeing a bad one when someone was drunk posting some year(s) back.

Edit: An idea that might be floated would be (and I have no idea how hard it would be) to put the accessibility of this type of content at a higher trust level than guest?

I agree it’s a shame to have such topics disappear, but i also understand why the mods don’t want/can’t spend that much time moderating threads like this. I’ll just wait and see what this new layout of the forum will look like. Maybe we’ll like it better after ? Maybe this is just temporary ? Who knows.
Some people will say they just need to get more mods, but as someone who has already managed a forum with hundreds of people, i can tell you : recruiting mods is not something easy or to be done lightly. You need people you can trust, are impartial AND who are willing to spend time and effort for this, this not easy to come by.

All I can say is that the fun and overall enjoyment of this forum may now be diminished drastically. And @Bryanpwo can’t be blamed for any of it. He had a tough decision to make because of the actions of a few others here. The old saying “one bad apple spoils the whole bunch” applies here.

I just hope that this forum doesn’t turn into the CachyOS forum. It’s a really good place to seek help, but that’s it. No personality, no fun… just a stale help forum.

I believe it’s more popular in the real life than online, which is sad.

Some topics make people irrationally angry and unpleasant, which would alter the tone of the forum. In my opinion the current rules are nearly good enough and just need to be updated such that one infraction is an instant temp-ban and another is an instant perma-ban. And then they need to enforced with no mercy.

Instead of closing/locking the thread, get some trusted members to mod. There’re enough candicates here who qualify for the “job”.
