Me too. 
Sad but understandable. In the very early 1990s I ran a single-line BBS. Probably 80% of my time was spent dealing with users from the far ends of the bell curve. It was unproductive and made no one happy.
Since then, In various fora I have seen:
- More mods (lead to “Mod Wars”)
- One single unrestricted forum (lead to highly distilled, concentrated rage bait)
- Forum-wide bans on religion, sex, politics (no change in mod workload as some folks can’t read or think)
Man is a rationalizing animal, and can rationalize anything as being in their favor. I’d rather the EOS team spend time on producing a quality EOS – which is why we’re all here in the first place – than refereeing forum content.
Will I miss the jokes, music, books, et al.? Of course. I just wish people didn’t feel a need to rationalize so strongly. I also wish I had a pony.
Thank you for all you’ve done, Mod Team. I know it’s a thankless job but I do appreciate you all have had to sweep the floors for a very long time, and need to take a break. Everything changes, and maybe we can have the fun stuff back eventually.

So9. we’re stopping a little joke for a regular day 2026 because some people made political innuendos? Is that it? I don’t care about politics and pass by it. If people can’t police themselves, I don’t look at it. I don’t know why the 98% of us should pay for a few people who can’t help themselves. I’m really confused about this. Human nature is what it is. It’s also up to us to not listen or look at those who drag the conversation where it shouldn’t go.
This really sucks. I wonder if we’ll ever see a time when people don’t mess a good thing up or is this how humans are by design. This really sucks.

Please read the three posts of @dalto in this thread. It is not about those threads it is about the amount of moderation that is needed for the lounge …
Yes, as a cheap shielding phrase. But sometimes people are actually offended by things. And considering all the activism Stephen Fry has done over the years it is hard to imagine he isn’t offended by some things too.
That’s part of the waters a moderator has to navigate. Sometimes people are just attention vampires, sometimes it originates in a global audience from all walks of life. But as a moderator you can’t just pick immediately. It takes time to figure things out. A lot of time.
But, the “footfall” on the forum has also dropped drastically, so whilst I understand it is an issue, we need to be encouraging content, not removing it.
Sure but thy should put someone(or some people) that is trusted with iron skin that is unbiased(as can be) to mod the Pub part(only!) with all the looney threads.

You’re right. It sucks people can’t moderate themselves… I’ve made plenty of mistakes too.

I’m not i was born 1983 but I have iron skin I just roll my eyes at stupid or political posts as well as random attacks from internet trolls.
As a Gen X I’m going to say it, so be prepared: I think that’s offending. Like there’s some inherent quality when somebody was born. There isn’t. Stupid people exist at every age. That’s just age-wars BS. - There we go. 
I am not gen-anything, just old.
I’m going to flag that for moderation as ageism!
