What do former Manjaro users like about EOS?

In my opinion, it is appropriate to ask a question in a forum after reading the available knowledge bases and looking for questions about the problem.

The Arch forum tends to be rather merciless on people who ask questions that are easily answered via a search of the wiki or the forum.

When I started using Linux, that was the trend on every forum, on IRC, etc. I felt very beginner among the many knowledgeable users. Over the years, Linux has changed to increasingly meet the needs of the average user.

Everything can be solved in the Linux world. You can also install newer packages on Debian, such as Firefox.

I switched because of the bloat. I think Manjaro is a great beginner arch based distro. I think a Ubuntu -> Manjaro -> Arch path is great to learn Linux. Tools like mwhd and pamac are also really nice,

I just wanted something cleaner. I also hated to wait 2/3/4 weeks for a package to be released on Manjaro, while it was already in Arch. I like living on the bleeding edge.

I prefer Yay nowadays over Pamac.

I haved used Vanilla Arch too, but I don’t like ā€˜elite I HATE SYSTEMD SYSTEMD IS BLOAT YOU ARE A NOOB ARCHFI IS BAD INSTALL ARCH WIKI OR DIE’ mentality some Arch users have. That is why I settled on Endeavour, because it is more noob friendly and I can just ask a question without getting Arch shamed. Good job!

It’s not Manjaro it’s EndeavourOS :rocket: :parachute: :purple_heart:

Edit: It’s ā€œKISSā€ … Vanilla Arch!

Once you’ve done it a few times it just gets tedious doing it again, the Arch way. The installers are often lacking in some respect, and Manjaro… is Manjaro and is really not Arch.

To me EOS, is the closest thing to a Arch install, if your a lazy sod that want’s a working laptop all the time.

…

BTW… I use Arch… on the desktop. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Gene: -Yeah, several times…

I do, but I’m going to have to ask that you not require them to be under oath.

So, I see where the refugees fled!

Not going to be a user/install EOS, so I’ll do my part to increase SNR/decrease server load.

See all y’all around!

Welcome to EOS. You don’t have to be using it (yet?) - we have people here from Garuda, Arco, Antergos, Arch, Manjaro, Archfi, Anarchy and who knows what else… so don’t worry about SNR…
