There are lots of songs about murder. Songs coming to my mind immediately are “Down by the River” by Neil Young; “Hey Joe” by Dino Valenti (perhaps), and made famous by The Leaves and Jimi Hendrix; and “Miss Otis Regrets” by Cole Porter, and performed by just about everybody. They are all great songs.
My favorite such song, though, is by Jonathan Spottiswoode. I like this song especially because its frame of reference is that of the murderer, who asks for our understanding and forgiveness, when the empathy he craves is definitely not deserved:
