Not exactly an application, but for all Cinnamon users in the wild there’s a nice applet.
In short, it changes system theming according to the time of the day. You can even use separate GTK and icon themes for light and dark theme if you want to.

Dang, was hoping it had Mordor 2 or demise from windows… I don’t think that game will ever be available again though for Linux, windows, or mac… it was the bomb in the 90s
I know I said phantasy star IV was my favorite game on this forum before but I take that back, it is a tie between MORDOR II & PSIV & Shenmue & Skyrim. They are all awesome, but since I have not played MORDOR II in so long, it makes me want it so much more than anything else.
we (humans) always pine for which we cannot have it seems
beets is crazy good, used it on a (radio) server once. There were some issues with my rather wild and thoroughly defined tags, though, that’s why I don’t use it locally.
Ah i see, thanks. Did not know this prog. Only came across it by chance in an article in gnulinux. I also have to read up on it first. I have one music folder locally, the other on my fritz.box as usb storage. It’s also a bit larger
Reading it up is a great idea. It can interface to lots of things, and if you have a well-tagged collection, it can do wonders
The collection is already tagged. I edited it back then with easytag. Tagging everything again would be an advantage. There are some files that are somehow messed up. Upper and lower case or the band name was not tagged correctly.
You have an advantage there: If not using MusicBrainz Picard already, beets can also interface to MusicBrainz and find/correct stuff.

EDIT: I forgot: beets is also great with mpd. Just in case…
Yes, Beets is great! I previously used Picard, which is also quite good for those who want something graphical. Beets automates basically everything just the way I want by default and still uses MusicBrainz, so I’ve mostly switched to it.
I use mpd on my desktop, as well as a Tangara portable music player, and Beets works wonderfully with all of them. Long-term plan is to plug my music collection into Jellyfin with the rest of my media, and I’m debating running a LAN Icecast radio of my collection too, for fun.
(Also, hi, first post!)
Welcome to the -Forum!
Thanks for your opinions
I have a lot of music that’s unorganized/untagged with a lot of duplicates. I’ve tried using Musicbrainz Picard to generate fingerprints before and then manually find duplicates, try to delete the low bitrate version etc. there’s also the same song found in multiple albums etc.
is there some good solution to doing this intelligently with code? it could just be a script? these days AI is also being used for everything though I’m not sure its needed here.
List system USB buses and devices. A modern cross-platform
lsusb
that attempts to maintain compatibility with, but also add new features. Profiles system USB buses and the devices on those buses, including full device descriptors.
Another interesting PDF Editor with too many options, it’s as effective as proprietary PDF-XChange Editor / Foxit PDF Viewer/Editor
[repology]
btop++, because of it I no longer need conky
It is crashing for me if I press p to switch modes.
Works fine for me.
Disk Usage Analyser (dua-cli)
CLI application to see disk usage if you want to free up space. To view files you have to run the application using dua i
inside the directory you want as it runs in home as default, and shows directories percentage spaced used and the amount of bytes used. Written in rust if that matters to anyone but there are many alternatives in curses, go, gtk, and even other in rust too, I found dua-cli to look the best and nice to use of the few I saw.
You can for example delete files by marking them by pressing d
and then press TAB to switch tot he marked pane to either delete permanently or move to trash. In this case i marked the games directory for the image.
