Using Zbrush on EndeavourOS

Hi friends.

Can I use Zbrush on EndeavourOS? And if it is possible, what programs do I need?

I’m currently using Blender, but I’d like to use Zbrush for 3D sculpting.

Some time ago I saw people using Photoshop on Linux, so I thought maybe it’s possible to use Zbrush on EndeavourOS.

Thanks in advance.

Do you know Wine?

It seems that using it may work.

For the rest Google is your friend…

2021 version should run on wine

Although on Linux people usually prefer Blender, coz it’s free & open-source

Thank you very much friend. I’ve been searching for information on Google and apparently there are 2 versions, wine, and wine-staging (I checked it in the terminal, and both are in the multilib repositories).

Which one should I install, or which one does everyone normally use?

Oh wait, is this kind of like https://www.protondb.com/ but for applications? This is great, thank you very much friend!

About Blender, I have been using Blender for many years and of course I will continue using it because it is my favorite program. Zbrush will only be a second option or for specific things.

Omg, Wine is like inside Lutris, this is a bit confusing. Well, I guess I should install wine or wine-staging first and then lutris. Although I thought Lutris was only for games, interesting.

Thank you very much friend, I will watch the video tutorial calmly, since my English is quite bad.

Take your time to read it, that should answer all of your questions about wine

From the Arch wiki :

Wine can be installed by enabling the multilib repository and installing the wine (development), wine-stableAUR (stable) or wine-staging (testing) package. Wine Staging is a patched version of Wine, which contains bug fixes and features that have not been integrated into the stable or development branch yet.

Thank you very much friends, I have managed to get ZBrush working in Bottles, but it does not recognize the pressure of the pen on the graphics tablet, it is the only thing I need.

Any ideas?

UPDATE:

I have managed to get it to work in bottles-flatpak, but the pressure did not work if you change windows.

I have installed it in wine-staging and these lines appear, the same error that other users get.

I will try another version of ZBrush and then with Bottles from the Arch repositories.

UPDATE 2:

Wine-staging (Arch) and ZBrush 2022.0.6

Wine-stagin (Arch) and ZBrush 2023.2.1

Bottles (Arch) and ZBrush 2022.0.6

(Like Bottles-flatpak, the tablet sensitivity doesn’t work, no matter what I try, the layers of clay are applied as if you were using the mouse, no pressure levels, but everything else works correctly)

Bottles (Arch) and ZBrush 2023.2.1

(Like Bottles-flatpak, the pen pressure sensitivity works here, but it will stop working if you leave the window or use the mouse. I haven’t found any way to make it work again, but everything else works fine)

Hi friends.

Almost 1 year later, after trying over 5 different versions of ZBrush on Wine-Staging, Lutris, and Bottle, pressure sensitivity was still not working correctly on Linux with any graphics tablet.

I asked around on other forums and did some research, and everyone seemed to have the same problem. Additionally, there were other errors that also occurred on Linux, such as window transparency, where the alpha did not work to see the desktop background, but it did work on Windows.

Fortunately, I continued learning to sculpt in Blender, and although Blender can’t handle as many millions of polygons as ZBrush in sculpt mode, Blender is easier and works better for me, so Blender for me is perfect and I’m happy with it.

I just wanted to inform, in case it can help someone!
