Update Issue?

Had this update issue here:

[dad@dad-EndeavourOS ~]$ sudo pacman -Syu
[sudo] password for dad:
:: Synchronizing package databases…
error: failed retrieving file ‘core.db’ from mirror.kaminski.io : SSL certificate problem: self signed certificate
core is up to date
error: failed retrieving file ‘extra.db’ from mirror.kaminski.io : SSL certificate problem: self signed certificate
extra is up to date
error: failed retrieving file ‘community.db’ from mirror.kaminski.io : SSL certificate problem: self signed certificate

error: failed retrieving file ‘multilib.db’ from mirror.kaminski.io : SSL certificate problem: self signed certificate
multilib is up to date
endeavouros is up to date
:: Starting full system upgrade…
there is nothing to do

So i ran Reflector Simple again this time including US & Canada and i didn’t get the error again. So I’m assuming it was an issue with the update server in my mirror list? In the Reflector Simple is it ok to include http servers also, i noticed they are not selected by default? Thanks

Simple reboot may help

I think it’s just reporting it failed to sync and retrieve the data base files but in the end it completed saying it’s up to date nothing to do. Should be fine. :slightly_smiling_face:

https is simply preferred over http.
On some countries there are only http servers.

I agree with @ricklinux it looks like kaminski failed as a mirror. It should have moved on to another mirror on you list which it appears it did. It is also possible the kaminski mirror didn’t update in a while. As far as http is concerned as opposed to https it is not recommended as it can be less secure than https.

It’s no worse than Windows never being able to connect when you try to update Defender. :smirk:

Edit: Have one of those right now that i have to try to get working! I know it’s going to be a pain as usual!

Thanks everyone, I’m really liking this EndeavourOS Plasma install a lot. :+1:t3:

Yes - the mirror server had/has a self-signed HTTPS certificate. This means it wasn’t signed by a recognised certificate authority and was rejected.

By refreshing the mirror list you replaced that mirror with another one. :wink:
