The new Beta is available

Is this a bug in the July 10 beta?

I installed the Cinnamon desktop. When I open Nemo and go into ‘preferences’, there is no way to close the preference box that pops up. I have to hit ALT-F4 to close it.

Oh, something else. I think in every distro I have ever used, I could be in Nemo and right click and there was a ‘open as root’ option. Has this been omitted on purpose or a bug? There an easy way to add that back that I’m not seeing? Maybe Google will have my answer for adding it back? :slight_smile:

hey @discobot can you google “Nemo Cinnamon open as root” for @roadhazard?

Hi! @roadhazard click here: google.com/

Hi!
to list packages contained in the endeavour repo type
pacman -Sl endeavouros

AFAIK pamac won't be added to the repoI thought maybe AUR isn’t enabled? So I edited my pacman.conf file and put it in there:

[archlinuxfr]
SigLevel = Never
Server = http://repo.archlinux.fr/$arch

you added the repo for yaourt, which is a no longer mantained package to play with AUR packages.

Endeavour comes with yay to handle AUR
if you want to install pamac type something like yay -S pamac-cli
Later on if you want pamac to search AUR packages go to preferences and enable AUR suport.

Currently testing on Virtualbox and have to say I’m really impressed with the default install! Great job!

Since I haven’t used Antergos in forever… is the Nvidia installer preinstalled and if not what’s the name of the package?

@Beardedgeek72
It isn’t installed by default, to install it just run

sudo pacman -S nvidia-installer

After install run

sudo nvidia-installer

Reboot after the program is finished, just make sure you’re Nvidia card is supported by checking on the Nvidia website.

@roadhazard
We only touched the theming of XFCE, the other DE’s we didn’t alter so the issues you’re running into are upstream related.

As for the root option in Nemo, try to install dbus-x11 (AUR) mostly this will solve the problem.

Also as @fernandomaroto already stated Pamac isn’t in the repo anymore. The previous Beta had some Antergos packages in it and we removed that. Yay is enabled by default and searching packages type

yay (package name)

In your case

yay pamac

Select the version you want and it will be installed.

I had the same issue on Cinnamon. I want right click open as root and also open in a terminal. I installed the Gnome terminal in Cinnamon as that normally is the default but still had issues. I’m using Archlabs Cinnamon and set open with to nemo as default. It all works the way i want it to. Now i just have to get the same result on Endeavour. This is the way it always worked in the past on Antergos.

what you think about this? as default grub theme:

I like this one a lot, I like the clean looks.

i do like to have no EndeavourOS banner or Logo on the Grub theme as it is may not the only used OS, so simple and clean

That makes sense. I was wondering how well the ISO would function as a rescue disk, if it would have any additional utilities on it for that. The only issue I really have with it not auto starting is that the unless you know to click on the icon it not really obvious how to get the install started. Perhaps initially opening up a text window with some basis info? need to think on it a bit more.

we do add a lot of helpfull tools like clonezilla, ddrescue, grsync, testdisk e.t.c. already

That’s great! glad to see that is part of the ISO

a lot of people use web-based clients nowadays, so I wouldn’t call that an issue.

Yeah and for those who don’t use wevmail the software we want is just an install away. If we were Apple, we would call this a feature. :joy:

Not all people. I prefer email clients and Thunderbird is my choice. Works great.

Thank you, that got me where I needed to be! (yay pamac), I installed pamac-aur.

But a new problem emerged. I added a few packages via pamac and applied some system updates and I keep seeing something over and over. It seems like anything I download in pamac gets downloaded multiple times:

https://pastebin.com/AgCGF1Kg

In that paste, it’s downloading the same files over and over and over again. Eventually it finishes and the program is installed perfectly fine but I don’t understand why it keeps downloading the same file over and over.

I’m thinking this is a sign from a higher power… that I just need to stick with yay for AUR and pacman for mainline repository type stuff. :slight_smile:
