The command 'pacman' returned error code 1

Hello there. Hope you’re doing well.

I used Manjaro and now trying to use EndeavourOS but I’ve having trouble installing the i3-wm online edition.

To reproduce:

  1. Download the Latest release.

  2. checksum:

❯ sha512sum -c EndeavourOS_Artemis-22_6.iso.sha512sum
EndeavourOS_Artemis-22_6.iso: OK
  1. use imagewriter to create a bootable usb stick

  2. boot into live ISO

  3. Follow the suggestion from The command pacman returned error code 1:

I. launch calamares to get to the select language screen. Then close it (or else III won’t work)

II. launch terminal and type sudo pacman -S archlinux-keyring

III. launch calamares with sudo -E calamares

Here’s part of the error log:

Any input is much appreciated. Thank you:)

Uncheck xbindkeys in the installer to work around the issue temporarily. It is in the i3 section.

It seems to be an upstream keyring issue.

Try: sudo pacman -Sy archlinux-keyring

This is what worked for the OP in the thread you linked to.

Nope, I am having the same problem. Updating the keyring doesn’t work, xbindkeys is not checked and it still gives the problem with pacman error.

The pacman error just means “something” went wrong with pacman. We need to see the install logs to understand what that was and provide a solution.

I just installed i3 and didn’t have any issues.

I am trying to reinstall now.

After reading through what you have done I would suggest maybe try update your mirrors as well

Well, it finally installed. I have no clue as to what caused it.

A mirror (finally) updating in the background might well be the ‘solution’ - not to worry! All part of the fun on the edge…
