A small topic for discussion: I think that we have quite a few keybinding that are non-default to Sway. I know that it is possible for the user to make as one like, but I would like that we follow the defaults of Sway insted of those of i3. It just seem more reasonable. Any thoughts?
I would support you.
There was a thread on pipewire and it didn’t too bring too many big problems could that be something we use with sway edition. @joekamprad ?
PipeWire supports containers like Flatpak and does not rely on user groups audio and video, but rather uses a PolKit-like security model asking Flatpak or Wayland for permission to record screen or audio.
Mostly for this reason?
It could be interesting to test. I think we only need this pipewire-pulse., to replace PulseAudio
I think we’ll stick with pulseaudio for the initial release then think about pipewire as we maintain it?
we need to wait till this is fully working, currently it would need to manually configure a lot of little things… and it will change a lot next time…
Of course!
Is any problems you or @morten-b found testing our configs?
Any idea what from here we don’t need?
- xf86-video-vesa
- xorg-server
- xorg-xinit
- xf86-input-libinput
- xf86-video-amdgpu
- xf86-video-ati
- xf86-video-fbdev
- xf86-video-intel
- xorg-xkill
- xorg-xrandr
- xorg-xinput
I’ve just pushed refactoring of sway config to a new branch: testing. I haven’t had time to spin it up yet, so expect error.
I’ve tried to keep all the settings that we have made and sticking with the defaults of Sway. I’ve structured it into files, so that it should be easier to access and keep in order.
Yes, they theming of waybar when enter System control mode (and probably also resizing) is a bit of.
yeh the clock thing annoys me I’ll mend that
Oh, yeah and we should remove the power button, since it is not functional.
Done on both branches! Working on the clock.
Just tidied up the floating rules in testing and added some!
Great! Remeber that you don’t need to fix stuff in both branches. We merge testing branch in instead.
hmmm. Ohhh I’m so stupid, i need to learn git a bit better!
I’ve merged all changes from testing into main.
Regarding waybar I think that we should make the clock non-bold. Also how difficult is it to merge clock and date, so that you can switch between clock and clock+date by clicking with the mouse?
Have you checked the testing. Does everything work??!
OK I’ll make it normal. And I’m not sure shouldn’t be too hard.
It is working, yes
Todays Update
Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe we are quite close to being finished. (I Think)
Things that happened (none of which I did(
)
- Config now uses defaults of sway over i3
- Config has been spilt for easier configuration
- GTK2 and 3 themes now set.
- Example output added
- Wlogout no longer needed. Nothing from the AUR now
Things to do
- Waybar (forgive me
) - Get rid if uneeded X stuff on netinstall.yaml
- Find a way or not integrate the power menu
- endeavour os as a nerd font for the launcher - long time thought dw -
