Some settings get reset after reboot

i have searched the forum and internet, e.g. there is

unless overread some solutions, i mean its a long talk,
i seem to have same issue.

i came from manjaro, same DE, plasma and wayland.
with manjaro i needed to change default applications very once a while, and finally every reboot i needed to add keyboard layout, as i installed english, but use german layout.

now, with EOS it seems the general issue is still there. i’d guess a KDE issue.
on every reboot i need to set the default applications again. set default mailer, default video, music player, etc.
but not all everytime. today it remembered the browser, but not the music player xD

right now this is the only setting not saved so far, but have moved to EOS only 1 week ago…
i fear more issues will arise in time.

is there a solution to this?
maybe i should change the DE?

A few questions:
Do you use system settings > default applications ?
Do you start with a empty session everytime ? (see system settings>sessions) ?

Remove fcitx5 it is causing problems with mutliple keyboard languages.

Isn’t it fcitx5?

Think it is yes.

Maybe, I was working from (my aged, sleep deprived) memory

yeah, have tried that in manjaro, didn’t work.
with EOS i have it not installed. and layout is stable now.

yes, system settings -> default application.
uh, and it is system settings -> desktop session for me.

Sorry I have to translate this from Dutch , and that only has sessions on it. Anyway try to start with an empty session.

oh, ok, got the implications, i think.
so maybe i need to configure once, uncheck to remember the session, do a reboot/relogin, and see if that helps.
when that works, i could activate sessions again, and maybe it will keep the cleanly saved settings.
will try and give feedback.

Also take a look at this thread:

that seems to be the trick
at least without session saving my settings are good now.
will continue watching the behaviour now with saved sessions.

thanks alot!
