[SOLVED] No Audio in Firefox from Pipewire or Pulseaudio Update

Not sure if my issue is the same as this:

But, this is the second time I’ve gotten this issue in the last 7 days. The first time I got it I didn’t “fix” it because I reinstalled EOS to dual-boot Windows.

The issue is that a Pipewire/Pulseaudio update kills Firefox’s ability to play sound. All other programs work just fine.

This is my most recent -Syyu:

alsa-card-profiles-1:0.3.50-1
eos-bash-shared-1.10.41-1
gst-plugin-pipewire-1:0.3.50-1

pipewire-pulse-1:0.3.50-1

I assume it’s an audio driver issue because “pipewire” is a relatively new implementation. But if it’s something else, and someone knows what’s wrong, please help me to fix it.

I have a timeshift restore point, so I’m willing to experiment.

My audio is working fine now because I used the restore point.

So far, I’ve tried removing pipewire and going back to pulseaudio - didn’t work. But I’m not that good at adding proper depencies, so I might have done that wrong.

Haven’t tried reinstalling Firefox yet.

Also, is there any way I can avoid/skip a particular update while still updating everything else?

And is that safe?

Did you reboot after the update of pipewire? I found i had no sound also from Firefox yet i could hear audio from the volume control. Rebooted and sound is there.

Well, no I didn’t reboot this time. Only logged out and back in. The first time I had the issue I did reboot (a few times). Does that count?

Or do you think I should update it again and reboot now?

All I can say is I just did an update that included a pipewire update and i had no sound on video’s in firefox. I rebooted and then i had sound.

Edit: This was also on Plasma.

Very strange! It worked this time. Thanks!

The reason it is strange though is that when I did the update, about an hour ago, the system did not prompt me for a restart, and this time it did.

And the update took a lot longer. Hmm…

Edit: I see. There are two additional packages here.
