81 and still servicing your car, fantastic. I’m a old and retired license mechanic in automotive, diesel and propane, there’s many things I bring to the garage now as I’m too old to do them myself. They say when you turn 82 you start to feel younger again. ![]()
Because in our day it was a machine that you controlled now its a computer that controls you
IMO, it’s not the reliability that’s the biggest turn-off for CVT’s. It’s the feel, or lack thereof. Many CVT’s are poorly programmed, so in normal/economy mode they won’t accelerate for anything even if you floor it, and if you put it in the sport mode, it won’t come off redline even when you’ve almost completely let off the accelerator and are trying to just cruise.
Haven’t driven a Subi CVT, but I know all the Nissan and Ford CVT’s I’ve driven were like that. It works fine, it’s just super annoying to drive. Luckily both my cars are full manual 6-speeds, and since the one is legal to smoke this year (18 years old!!!) in the US, I’ll be keeping them going for the foreseeable future barring catastrophe.
CVT and all electric are 2 deal breakers for me. I won’t pay money for either of those options. I’ll drive my Mazda until the end of time if need be. Or, well my wife will. Toyota Tacoma coming soon for me hopefully.
I’ve gotten a few new toys in the last couple of months. I dunno how many people would be upset about beautiful firearms, so I haven’t posted. I’ll gladly show them off here though if some are interested. I just know how irrationally emotional select people get about that stuff these days.
My Subaru 2.5 accelerates very well to get up to speed to merge in traffic. I have no issue with it. They are not turbo either.
I don’t have any problem with my CR-V either.
You have the 2.0 ltr Atikinson cycle engine which is also non turbo. It should be quite good. It was one of my choices but i just didn’t have enough money and didn’t want to finance more so i went with the Subaru which is smaller and non hybrid but suits my needs for the money. I’ve never owned a Subaru and coming from 20 yrs owning a Honda it was a hard decision.
WoWser! nice!
No night lights required.
Thank you Sam, was testing the cooling, ran CInebench Multicore stress test and temp did not go above 68 Celsius. Very happy with that.
I have the 5800X waiting on standby. I’m also going to go 64 GB memory 3200 Mhz XMP. Just need the pwr supply and memory for a new build. Not that i need one but hey why not?
