Wow, sounds like a bargain! How is the battery life so far?

About 8 hours it looks like. I haven’t used it much though. Just setting it up still.

I bought a fairphone 5 recently. It’s running gulag’s services, but without any google account (the Aurora store has everything I’ve ever searched for, when it’s not on F-droid).

The phone itself is pretty good, and I am aiming at 10 years with it, given that it just got out a couple of months ago, it has 5 years of official warranty, 8 years of software support, which I hope the likes of lineage, calyx os /e/ might help extend further. Or UBports, that runs on the previous fairphones.

Also cool is that the battery is easily replaceable (remove back cover, remove battery, insert battery, insert back cover), no screws or bolts whatsoever, and the screen is supposed to be replaced by anyone as well, and not that expensive, in comparison with the other mobiles.

What will they not come up with :upside_down_face:

Iflash Solo adapter, to breathe some new life into my old Ipod…
Combined with a new battery a replacement shell, and an install of Rockbox to finish it off…

Was glad to see that the AutoEQ web app has export options for RockBox, makes even these dinky PortaPro’s a joy to listen to

edit:

Yes it runs Doom

{HEAVY sarcasm}Don’t anyone have a heart attack at the shock of my buying this, I know my purchasing history will make this amazingly surprising{/sarcasm}

Should arrive Tuesday. Pulled my HikSemi Future 2TB from the Alder Lake ThinkPad T14 Gen3 to put in it, but that’s all I’ll need to do, everything else as I’d want it. And now I can sell off that Alder Lake pile of inefficiency!!! HATE ALDER LAKE!!!

I’m getting to the age where I need one of them soon.

you got some leaves growing on that n2+…

you modded it into a biocomputer? :joy:

It ARRIVED!!!

I did decide to swap wifi cards with my INspiron 7415 2-in-1. That had the Qualcomm QCNFA765, while this came with the AMD RZ616. While performance is similar between the 2 cards, the Qualcomm will generally outrange both the AMD and Intel branded cards. So put that in here.

And it’s getting skinned. Not happy with this first attempt. The top skin went on smooth, perfectly. Then after setting, it started forming air bubbles, and heating it just made them worse.
The damage on the touchpad was because I used the end of the roll and it had it on it, that’s not from my putting it on.
Yes, I like bright colors.

worst is this thing costs 6k and comes with only 8Gb RAM and 256 GB memory, and quadcore. else that would be a beast.
