Should there be a limit to images per post?

PROPOSAL

  • Limit number of images to 1 or 2 per post.
  • Maybe it’s just me, but 4,5,6, or more images in one post clutters the thread and makes it a bit difficult to view. I loose who’s post I’m even looking at.

Just my 2 cents.

Or… Ignore the user by clicking the button on their profile?

I put some people on temporary time-outs and some are ignored permanently. :person_shrugging:

I have no reason to block the users. I otherwise like their posts quite a bit. “Ignoring” them would mean I miss out on some things.

Like I said. Just my 2 cents.

  • Rant over.

For those that are bothered by it, just scroll on by and pay no attention to it. I dont think anyone here is being forced to see/read something that they wish not to see/read. Problem solved.

Wait now, what? I have to scroll up to where? And then I have to scroll down to what? Avoid who by doing what? Who did what in the where now?

I just assume that when one needs to post like that its just a call for attention. There is after all no need to post so many at once. Its not like that helps anyone save space. I just scroll past any that are more than 2.

I do agree that ignoring isn’t always the answer. I do remember last year they had us limit our post every 8 hours in this thread. Maybe that is why the user does what they do not realizing that its really frustrating for normal users who just want to post or even take a quick read of a meme or two to share in the joy that doesn’t have a lot of time.

That is not my reason. My reason is that I come across so many memes that I want to post, but yet the site only allows 3 back to back posts, so I try to get them all in in the 2 or 3 back to back posts that I am allowed to make. It is not to gather attention. If that was the reason I would be hitting up the porn sites intead.

Just saying that, FOR ME, it clutters the thread. You’re right, I could just scroll past. I’ve done that and was going to click “like” for an image only to find I was still in your post. So, it’s just a bit irritating for ME. Sometimes too much of a good thing is just that… too much.

But again, that’s just me. You do your thing. Enjoy posting! Didn’t mean to offend. That was, and isn’t, my intention.

I think now it’s after 3 posts you’re cut off until someone else posts.

I wasn’t accusing you of anything. I was just stating possible causes someone would do such things. The forums are not going anywhere. And to post like you do is very unnecessary when you put that in mind.

You do you I’m just explaining a position some of us have.

No offense taken from any of you. I was just explaining the reason for the way I was posting memes. If it makes it any better, I will try to limit the amount of pics in one post.

I have moved the off-topic discussion to a separate topic (so it does not clutter the thread ).

I frequently face a real dilemma with this. I might like quite a number of the images in a post, but also not-like some in that same post. But what can I do, I can only like all of them, or not-like all of them.

a man in a striped shirt and tie is laying down and says " so much pressure "

These are the questions that challenge humanity!

I generally I just scroll through then without hitting anything. It is frustrating when you like that first image but then the other 4 are not that great and you wasted the time to find out they were not that great because you invested in the post.

Yes, that has occurred to me too, but I haven’t implemented it yet.

The first thing that springs to mind is this guy with the dog and his neglected apartment, whose cleaning lady ran away. The same photos of the garbage dump with the dog over and over again… But it seems very important to him that we all get to know his misery… SCNR…

Me: I do the same scroll passed everything method.

Someone: But didn’t you suggest using the “Ignore” feature?

Me: Why, yes, I did. But it just hides the post, while still showing the thread as unread. And, often times when I try to scroll the thread to the end, go back to the home screen, and repeat, it doesn’t update as read. So, I end up having to click “VIEW X HIDDEN REPLY(IES)”, then scroll the whole lot just to make it not show as unread. ← This last part is most times my default now when I remember, though.

I know the reasoning behind that has its merits — the fact that this platform is made for communicating with members of a community — but, for me, I really wish it ignored a user without showing me that a message is hidden. I don’t need to know, and I have slight OCD, so I don’t want anything unread unless I’m coming back to it later. This is also why you’ll almost never see me on a post where a user has a monitor issue, because I can’t help, so I just mute it. This and installation, most booting issues, etc. :person_shrugging:

If ignoring consistently marked the thread as read, it wouldn’t be so bad.
Only other issue would be when an ignored user makes their own thread, I have to go in and mute the thread to hide it.

Grateful I can do something all the same. :upside_down_face:
