I actually broke 2 different distros just by installing Nvidia drivers. In both cases, installing Nvidia drivers caused a partial update.
Summary
Linux Mint: LightDM failed to start, I could switch to TTY, update and get system running
Nobara: Nvidia module failed to insert, causing display output to freeze. Boot old kernel, update, problem solved

After watching this, I nervously googled how to exit vi just to be sure… no one is going to play this cruel joke on me! I’m now officially an intermediate vi/vim user: I know how to exit the damn thing.
