As I don’t use Thunar or another graphical file-manager at all Iam sorry not to be able to solve this problem.

@ricklinux since you asked, here’s my wife’s desktop on EndeavourOS KDE.

KDE is wonderful. very customizable, very modern. my favorite DE by far.

Very nice…were you an Antergos user before? Arch? or just new to Endeavour?

thanks! i was an Antergos user prior. i used to distrohop a lot, but i settled down with Antergos some years back. was sad to see it shutdown.

i’m on Antefree on my desktop now, but recently did a reinstall for my wife to try out Endeavour.

I’ve been bouncing between Nemo, Nautilus, and now Thunar. Thunar is much better in its 4.14 incarnation. The annoying bug of random crashes when I drag files is gone. Between Nautilus and Nemo I was surprised to discover I like Nautilus better. But I’ve had no desire to replace Thunar. And while you can add Nemo to xfce you can’t delete Thunar. Some internal processes expect it. And I haven’t seen the spacing problem probably because I run gigatic icons on my 32-inch monitor.

I have done the same. I have an Antergos conversion and i installed a full Arch version just recently and i also have Endeavour. I distrohop a lot too but mainly it’s Arch based anymore. I will wipe it out and reinstall in the same breath sometimes. I’ve kind of settled down now to just sticking with Arch and trying different desktops. It’s all fun but it sure does consume a lot of time. :slightly_smiling_face:

I just wanted to say your name is unique. One of my daughters whose nickname is Nikki …i used to call nicodemus when she was little. I don’t know if she likes it so much now but for years that’s what i called her while she was growing up. :grinning:

haha thanks! how could she NOT like it now?

and here’s my Antefree KDE desktop. i use Latte Dock to try out some design notes from Gnome 3. KDE can really be whatever you want it to be.

Simple XFCE
I’m using the Cyanogen WM theme because it has wide borders and I can grab them easily for resizing. I have issues with most other themes where resizing is a big pain because of thin borders.

EndeavourOS stable with Cinnamon

Looks great. Still trying to decide if I should do a reinstall and in that case which of the three to pick: Gnome, Budgie or Cinnamon…

A new installation is not necessary.

Open Terminal

sudo pacman -S cinnamon nemo

reboot

in the login screen above then select cinnamon and have fun

Oh I know. But i want to
Plus haven’t decided what DE yet.

In my opinion, cinnamon is the best desktop for linux.
Although not the slimmest but the most beautiful.

working on DE’s settings… MATE basic setup…

If someone has some suggestions for useful additions, like menu applications e.t.c. or for settings give to us!

So, if I do a full reinstall tonight and follow the xfce removal instructions, these two are the packages I need to install to get cinnamon up and running?

Or:

sudo pacman -S cinnamon system-config-printer gnome-keyring blueberry network-manager-applet

As recomended in the Wiki.
