I just use the regular built-in switcher.
it used to not work with some apps though, until I made sure the following packages are installed:

xdg-desktop-portal
xdg-desktop-portal-gnome
xdg-desktop-portal-gtk

from what I found out in a gnome desktop chat, missing at least some of the portals is a common issue with arch users haha

Sure, you can change the theme/icons/backgrounds etc. manually but the extension automates everything for you on a timed day/night schedule.
