i3wm + polybar
Not a DE; does this qualify?
@flyingcakes
Why not! The purpose is to share new ideasâŚ
Great!
I plan to add some conky magic, and maybe some rofi click menus. Iâm about a week into EOS, and loving it thoroughly!
@flyingcakes
Canât blame youâŚ
And welcome! Hopefully youâll like it here for years to come!
Î think i want the wallpaper
Cudos to @librewish who chose it.
Really at the loungeâŚ
that is soooo cool! I love it. Do you prefer i3wm instead of a DE? what were you using previously? I might take it for a spin!
New month, new wallpaper:
Thanks! I used Xfce first (2016; Xubuntu). For the past year, I had been using this distro called Solus. They didnât have Xfce in their repo. I used Budgie, which is good imo.
I switched to i3 because I wanted a keyboard first interface; plus window managers are a lot less bloat. I tries awesomewm, but that was too difficult configuring for me. Looked up the net and found that i3 is functional as well as beginner friendly. Been using it for a few months now. So kinda yes, I prefer i3wm over a DE.
If youâre using a window manager for the first time, it can take some time to set up.(about an hour if you have no knowledge) But honestly, once you do your first set up, you learn things and from next time you can do it very fast.
My setup is very close to default settings; tell me if you need the dotfiles!
Edit: Saw your profile, youâve also come here from Solus. High five! :
a change of wallpaper to suit my polybar colors!
Very minor changes.
Also a little too metaphorical given the times?
Just started customizing like 30 minutes ago.
Plank as my dock
and well you guys can see the rest
So i do ask once again as i do see mostly everyone is not changing the settings of xfce4-terminal do you all like how it shows this toolbar? or would you prefer it more minimal like so with a left click menu only:
Exactly, nothing no scrollbar also, just a click left menu is enoughtâŚ
I guess I havenât gotten there yet. But I do prefer it minimal
I personally would prefer it minimal out-of-the-box, but since this distro is meant to encourage terminal use for beginners also I think itâs more user-friendly the way itâs now.
my one:
is it xfce-terminal?
