In my previous installation (ubuntu dev/gnome) I had made a toggle button that changed appearance between day and night. The scripts were not well written but the work was done.
I don’t know if they still work (gnome 42, broken extensions etc). At some point I will try gnome again.

Thanks! And yes Gnome actually has this amazing extension called Night Theme Switcher that does change the background automatically or manually set a time, as well as change your theme too if you want it to and a few other useful features. Supports Gnome 42 too! Check it out if you’re curious

LXQt with KWin on the Raspberry Pi. I replaced the default Openbox with Kwin and the experience so far is good. Kwin is still lightweight and doesn’t take that much more RAM compared to Openbox.
