“Luck of the Draw” distro. Random choice from an Arch-Based distro search on Distrowatch…

Final theme tinkering with PrismLinux for the time being…

  • Global Theme: Breeze Dark
  • Colors: Darkly (Accent From Wallpaper)
  • Application Style: Darkly
  • Plasma Style: Darkly
  • Window Decorations: Klassy
  • Icons: YAMIS (Yet Another Monochrome Icon Set)

I’ve never heard of PrismLinux. How does it actually differ from other Arch-based distributions?

It’s not all that different once installed. I mean the difference between Arch-based distros isn’t massive. They all have the Arch base in common with some of their own spin. Along with the Arch repos, Prism has the Chaotic AUR enabled by default, along with its own repo.

One of the biggest differences I noticed was the installer. Aside from a wide variety of DEs to choose from, there’s a point where you choose apps to install (if you chose online install). And there’s a lot from which to choose. Making it easy to get many of the apps you want installed and ready to go on first boot. So you can make it as minimal or as “bloated” as you want.

It’s actually an interesting Arch-based distro. Liking it quite a bit so far. The closest I’ve gotten to a permanent secondary distro. Time will tell.

Thanks. Ya, this is quite a nice feature.

Nothing too much changed since the last time I posted exactly a year ago, but it still feels great. Just tweaked the taskbar design and system font. I also remove the start menu since I didn’t use that lol.

Ok, not really a desktop, but my homeserver got upgraded from a Raspberry Pi 4B 2GB to this craptop

Which has several advantages:

1. Faster storage
2. More storage
3. More RAM (not needed right now, but gives room for more services in the future)
4. A built-in UPS
4a. Easily check for power outages (I use fastfetch | grep "AC Connected"'s return status for that)
5. A built-in screen and keyboard, could be useful if I ever need to debug it locally
6. NO RED POWER-ON LIGHT SHINING INTO MY EYES ALL THE TIME

It’s these little things that mean a lot.

Recently, when my microwave died, I searched high and low for one where I could turn off the goddamned beeper. Found it in a Toshiba that also has a rice button. Bliss.

Back on the main rig with EndeavourOS. Tweaked Panel Colorizer, Darkly, Better Blur DX, new wallpaper, and new Fastfetch image.

  • Global Theme: Polar Dusk
  • Colors: Polar Dusk
  • Application Style: Darkly
  • Plasma Style: Polar Gleam
  • Window Decorations: Klassy
  • Icons: YAMIS (Yet Another Monochrome Icon Set)

As a side note… my desktop couldn’t look like it does without @dirn’s theme and icon work! :vulcan_salute:

After updating to Plasma 6.7, I noticed that my Aurorae window buttons would jump 1 pixel upward on hover. They return to the correct position after maximizing/restoring the window (forcing a redraw). It’s quite obvious because the top border of the button disappears.

Spent the weekend figuring out what was causing it in my Salju 7 Aurorae RC config.

The culprit:

TitleEdgeTop=0
TitleEdgeTopMaximized=0

While fixing it, I realized my Windows 7–style buttons actually look better without the top border. Since I was already at it, I edited the button SVGs as well.

Before and after

The result:

Thank you for the kind words, @UncleSpellbinder. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

THANK you so MUCH! I take THAT as a COMPLIMENT!

PS. Do as Brodie says!

Niri married Gnome? ^^

No, no mixed marriage.
GNOME through and through

Yesterday and last night I shrank partitions down and created some extra new ones on my testing laptop to add some new isos just to play with. All run openbox wm.

PrismLinux is very interesting and light running openbox wm.

hyprland + light color theme

I like the girl blue shirt color. Looks nice. Will try to get the color code later.
