Hi, my scanner stop working after update my system (canot find scanner anymore)
i also had a printing problem before and remember some apps should be the same version, looked-up my old topic try the commands for same version but not working also ,is there a way for telling the system to keep same versions … so my printer and scanner keep on working fine ? i downgrade 3 times “cups” to different versions and nothing works so waiting again for when to work now or hoping there is help for this ? i try install “sane - cups” again ,tried also hplip and xsane but nogo… printing keeps working good
HP-ENVY-6400-SERIES
(edit) version cups 2:2.4.16-2 , version hplip 1:3.25.8-5 , version sane 1.4.0-4
Also for my still newby problem can you please put here the commands for searching en helping myself out for i get the same problem from time 2 time … thank you
i know one from before (example) < > systemctl status cups.service
i did sudo hp-setup -i and it started to configure and testprint in the end ,but the scanner still not working (printing worked also before) i need the scanner to work this is the problem (did not restart cups)
I believe that printer requires a plugin, so each time hplip is updated, you may need to run this command to install the plugin, following the defaults:
hp-plugin
It will prompt you for your sudo password when needed. That command runs the graphic version of hp-plugin, which I’ve found sometimes works better than the interactive version with the license agreement, though you can try either. The interactive command is:
hp-plugin -i
With the HP printers that require a plugin, printing often works fine out-of-the-box even without installing the plugin, but the scanner requires the plugin, and if hp-setup doesn’t pull in the plugin, your scanner won’t be found.
am not sure but i think i updated more then 1 time (edit) need to go first now am back later… thank you for helping so far already and i hope we can fix it again…
@zero1976, Maybe my post is useless.
I tested with an old Canon MX340.
USB worked and in LMDE 7 by wifi as well.
In EnOS wayland I switched off firewall similar case in the past.
Now with simple-scan -d
wifi mode is unreliable here but out of 5 attempts at least 1 scan is successful.
Finally, if you are planning a reinstall IMHO BTRFS Snapshots are well worth it.
Thank you eso for advise ,my old hp printer worked fine always on every system but this new one pfff omg. (edit) if this problem is not getting solved am back to scanning with my laptop… )
