How much did you use the scanner before when it first worked? Sometimes these things automatically seem to work when first installed and then stop working for some reason. It may be that it wasn’t really setup correctly in the beginning. I do know that hplip-plugin has to be updated as you can get a mismatch.
A “hplip-plugin mismatch with hplip” error occurs when the installed HPLIP library version does not match the version of the proprietary plugin. This is common after a system update that updates the main hplip package but not the plugin, which is often a separate installation.
when i run hp-setup -i i get warning: One or more print queues already exist for this device: ENVY_6400. the other 2 not working (target not found) but in my languets ?
(edit) have this feeling am creating a mess on my pc now
Do you have dual boot with Windows. Sounds like you have some print jobs stuck in the que that needs to be cleared.
Edit: Maybe remove the printer and packages installed and start over. If your printer is connect via usb it is very straight forward to install and select usb connection. You just need hplip and hplip-plugin. You can use system-config-printer command to add the printer and select usb.. You also need a scanner package sane or other.
only endeavourOS on my pc and to be honest i do not know anymore where to start for remove all i tried already ;p ,just see i had 2 printers setup indeed i removed 1 “install and select usb connection.” i did also before… and also have sane installed ,thank you for help thinking and all effort you do ricklinux but i guess i wait for when it start function again becaus it is like that if 1 system update breaks and it no more function … another system update can fix it again happen already 4 times now..
When you installed endeavouros did you check both printing support and hp printer support on the installer? It does have that option. As far as it not working 4x is that just the scanner or both the printer stopped working also. The only issue i know that can happen with hplip is the plugin can get a mismatch with certain updates sometimes.
If and only if OP’s scanner stay’s FUBARD–and this stays unsolved–then consider /aur or flatpak.
I’ve never had an /extra package fail me in Endeavour.
But I have had better performance from Flatpaks than some AUR packages; and that includes scanning-related packages.
Also love Rick’s ^^ ‘tear everything out then re-install plan’ that always has a high success rate for me. Rip it out, start fresh. No reason an /extra package should not be functioning. rarely hear of that
Your user must be part of the scanner or lp group to use the scanner without sudo Check this. Also ensure the hpaio backend is enabled by checking /etc/sane.d/dll.conf and ensuring the line hpaio is not commented out. Maybe try simple-scan instead of sane as an alternative.

no scanners found
check if your scanner is connected and turned on
$ scanimage -L
No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
when i run >>
$ sane-find-scanner
sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.
No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.
Also you need support for SCSI Generic (sg) in your operating system.
If using Linux, try “modprobe sg”.

you have loaded a kernel driver for your USB host controller and have setup
the USB system correctly. See man sane-usb for details.
Not checking for parallel port scanners.
Most Scanners connected to the parallel port or other proprietary ports
can’t be detected by this program.
You may want to run this program as root to find all devices. Once you
found the scanner devices, be sure to adjust access permissions as
yes it is connected to usb2 port and worked fine before the update i did some time ago ,and the printer works fine still but the scanner not ? i can try other usb but seems little weird not ?
(edit) with all this trying and messing arround with lots off stuff am thinking about a compleet new install again lol and this time am gonna do as before and put every update i do on file… so if it brake again… i got info to give .. thank you so very much ricklinux for keep helping me with this weird problem … only thing that keep me from starting straight away is 1. all the work putting back all browsers in the right way .. what on wich one and again adding all the passwords for all sites and so on… lolz maybe i just wait for updates that fix it and keep using my laptop for scanning … ;p i can imagen all these possible options/stepts you give me and still we not get it to function… bigg thanx for this i canot say this enough
