Trying to get my Dell XPS 8700’s Realtek RTS5182 Card Reader to work, as it doesn’t detect any cards put into it

oh my bad, i meant a card reader as in sd cards and other things (its a multi type reader)

Edit: I think it’s correct? Have another look at it.
Note: The package ccid provides a generic USB interface driver for smart card reader. If the smart card at hand is not supported by the generic driver or simply it needs a specific one, feel free to install the best for that device.

It does show the card reader as being detected. So what happens when you try to put a disc in it?

When I put a card in, nothing changes. When I was still using Windows a while ago there would be an indicator light, showing that it was reading it, but nothing lights up
Are you dual booting with windows?

Does the device show up in the file manager if you put a card in it?
Edit: I have card readers in my laptops and they work. I can use a program to flash an ISO to them when needed.
Edit: So we are talking about sd card readers.

I would check sudo dmesg without a card in it and then with a card put in it. See if it shows anything.

So if you put a card in it and run lsblk in the terminal it doesn’t show it?

You may need to see what module it may be using or is supposed to use and remove it and reload it with the proper commands.
Se what it shows with lsmod
Maybe you can determine that. It might be rtsx_pci or something else.
