Pinebook Pro external monitor support

Hello! I’m just a guy with a Pinebook Pro who wants to use an external monitor via the USB-C port.

I came over from Manjaro because y’all are still releasing PBP-specific images (understood that PBPs should use the Manjaro generic image). Endeavour with xfce4 runs great on this machine!

From my reading of this thread, it appears that support for external monitors was dropped with a deprecated PBP kernel. The solution marked in that thread seems undesirable.

I am using approved cables and adapters from the community-sourced list. How can I use an external monitor on a Pinebook Pro with the current machine-specific Endeavour image?

Thank you!

Hello @jrw and welcome to the forum!
Have you tried lts kernel?
This story is a bit old, but …

Thanks @eso. That thread links to some Manjaro pages, which the author said he had success with. I’m having trouble squaring the Manjaro LTS kernel with Endeavour. When I build and then make the package, pacman fails with no aarch64 support. What am I doing wrong?

If Pinebook Pro is ARM based idk did you use one of these?

Picking up on your sarcasm but yeah, I installed the ARM image to the PBP. I gather I need the LTS kernel to apply the monitor patch. It looks like the monitor patch only applies to the Manjaro release. Guess I should just use Manjaro? If not, I’m stuck with how to apply the patch to my Endeavour install.
