Our Galileo release is delayed but here are the main changes you can expect

But it is still there when i use yay command

marcin@marcin-84pl ~]$ yay
[sudo] hasło użytkownika marcin:
:: Synchronizowanie baz danych z pakietami…
endeavouros is up to date
core is up to date
extra 8,2 MiB 15,1 MiB/s 00:01 [--------------------------------------] 100%
community is up to date
multilib is up to date

you need to change this if you where installing with older ISO…

simply remove the entry from your /etc/pacman.conf and rerun sudo pacman -Syu and you will be up.
Latest released ISO is already using the changed config:

You can find latest pacman.conf here in case:

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/endeavouros-team/EndeavourOS-ISO/main/airootfs/etc/pacman.conf

With this you would replace your old one with the new default:

wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/endeavouros-team/EndeavourOS-ISO/main/airootfs/etc/pacman.conf && sudo cp pacman.conf /etc/

But only use this if you do not have any custom changes on your pacman.conf (like another custom repo added p.e.)

This was announced in may already here:

That should have already happened to you. You will need to tend to your pacsave/pacnew files if you haven’t already.

Say what? :scream:

I wonder just how old is too old for Plasma
the bloat reputation back then seems to no longer be the case but I feel like Core 2 Duo/Intel GMA Graphics is still too crap for Plasma

29 posts were split to a new topic: An X11 vs Wayland on Plasma 6 discussion and the alternatives in that case

That should run fine if you tone down or disable the default animation and effects. Plasma ships with a lot of transparency, animations and effects on by default which create a small GPU load which can be a problem for very old integrated GPUs(Or CPUs if you fallback to software rendering). However, this is all configurable. These can be easily lessened or completely disabled.

And… there need to come two issues at the same time together… very old Computer and no internet or very bad internet connection… To only be able to use offline install method…
If you are very limited on internet access it is questionable if a rolling release is even the best choice at all…

If you have old system and internet is okay you still can install xfce4 or even LXDE LXQT over online install method.

And EndeavourOS is a community affair too… so if somone really want possible to cerate and maintain ISO with another offline option… i have tried them all even i3 is easy to create :wink:

Great name! All the best team!

I still run EOS/Plasma on an old AMD Athlon with integrated Graphics and a mere 8GB RAM, no problem. :exploding_head:

I’m eager to try out the new release. I completely abandoned KDE last time I tried it (can’t remember if with debian or arch), a couple of years ago, the “framework” components received an update and as a result the whole system was horribly broken. Is it “stable” now?

I’ve been using KDE in Arch for several years… I can’t remember any problems at all :thinking:

If it was years ago, then Plasma has come a long way.

No more Xfce? Sad, because i think that it is the most sane GUI in terms of simplicity of visuals, no those ugly round shapes, no circus clutter.

Pretty good that i found nsCDE.

Xfce is still an installable desktop. It’s only the live ISO that will be based on Kde.
