Online installer not working

I just attempted to use the online installer so I could select Plasma as my EOS desktop to install along side Garuda and all I get is the below. The offline seems to work just fine. I get through the entire setup stopping short of doing the actual install. Help resolving this would really be appreciated. Thanks

looks like KPM-CORE got an issue, do you try cleaning the partition/s you want to use before starting the installer? KPM is crashing in some cases it does not understand the exact partitions flags and format from previous installs.

usually it would show like this:

Ok after talking to @jonathon via Telegram I decided to try downloading a fresh ISO and use Etcher to create my key instead of adding the ISO to Ventoy. This time when selecting Online install I actually got the Setup GUI. From there the install went perfectly.

The base of our LiveISO is archiso and this is already complete to automatically be able to boot from USB-stick or burned on a real DVD-ROM. if the program used to burn the ISO to stick or DVD is changing the boot process it will most likely fail or have strange behavior…

And sure it can happen that the ISO file gets corrupted on downloading it (it is a big file) so checking it with shasum/md5sum is not only good for nerds  it will make sure the file is not corrupted.

And luckily you do not find a BUG it was only technical issue here :man_technologist:t4:

Welcome here at the forum and have fun on your new system then!

I’ve booted the Arch iso from a Ventoy USB drive and it seemed to work. I didn’t actually try an installation though, I just wanted a chroot.

I think this might of been a case of

After downloading the fresh ISO and checking the MD5 I remembered that no I didn’t actually check it on the previous ISO. Won’t make that mistake again. Thanks again for the help.

Ah ha!

It happens.

Also, how did @pebcak get involved here?
