I just finished this in preparation of my Christmas present to myself. It’s taking FREAKING FOREVER to get here. Hopefully by the 30th. But I know I’m not the only one here. I can’t wait to have it all setup. I’m hoping to have enough power to VM.

I still want to know what it is & specs. Do i have to wait for the unboxing?

Well, original delivery was the 23rd. It has since been updated to the 30th. . . And the second SSD for it is special order from China. . . and that may not get here until late January. BUT, when all is done, it should be good to roll for the better part of the next decade for me.

I just wanted to know which model and specs. They can be quite expensive and the ones with the deals are usually already configured so you can’t customize them.

Edit: Sorry I got off topic here. I better wait. :grimacing:

It’s a quad core i5 Thinkpad t480s with 8gb ram soldered on. I am getting for Christmas (or purchasing if not acquired) a Patriot Viper 32GB ram stick for the open slot. I have a 1tb sabrent rocket nvme drive waiting for it and a special 256gb Lenovo SSD coming in that should work in the wwan slot so I can keep a separate Windows partition/drive for work.

I didn’t really want the i7 for battery life and it was another $300. This whole setup is well under $1000 still and I’m really excited for my first new computer in many many years.

Nothing crazy nice. But by far the nicest and newest computer I’ve ever had

Guessing it’s close in spec to my Thinkpad e580 then, but with more durable build quality.

If it’s anything to go by, mine has an I5 8250u and 16gb of ram, and it has been a joy to work with so far…

Seeing as yours will be a step up quality-wise,one could only expect great things!

Is exactly the same i5. 8250u. I’ve been eyeing the t480s since the 490 came out and no longer has expandable ram. I wanted something close to my x1 carbon but a bit more expendable. And then clearance and discounts I just couldn’t pass

I wanted a Thinkpad. Expandable. Close to the size of my current 3rd gen x1 carbon and without Nvidia graphics. T480s hit all of my requirements. And for $300 more on a $630 computer, I couldn’t warrant getting the i7. . .

Been a while. I was remembering a wallpaper i saw a long time ago and for the life of me cannot find again. So I tried to recreate it from memory…
