Maybe firewalld suck up the memory?
On his htops he has firewalld running on both.

Edit2: I have 32 GB memory so memory usage is insignificant in my opinion when it’s less than 2 GB to begin with. Or you are running outdated cpu & hardware with 4 GB memory or less. Then it may be a problem.

I don’t have that much, but still have enough to not really care. I have 16gb on my desktop and 8gb on my laptop. I could see it being a big deal though on something like a raspberry pi or something like that though.
Most modern hardware it isn’t an issue. Pi4 even has 8 GB memory. I’m not sure why they even bother selling anything less than 4GB. It doesn’t even make any sense to do that.
