asusctl should allow you to turn off your igpu if it is possible to do for ur pc. supergfxctl allows you to turn off the dgpu.
I’m not familiar with this.
Edit: Are you running this command to show what GPU’s are available?
MESA_VK_DEVICE_SELECT=list vulkaninfo
Edit: My understanding is if on Steam
For vkdevicechooser:
If its a Steam game: this goes into the LAUNCH OPTIONS: ENABLE_DEVICE_CHOOSER_LAYER=1 VULKAN_DEVICE_INDEX=1
Where ENABLE_DEVICE_CHOOSER_LAYER=1 meaning you enable it, and VULKAN_DEVICE_INDEX=1 is where you choose which gpu to use.
My artifacts are mostly white or a mishmash of colours, but yeah. I do have them, and they are most probably connected to the crashes. When I tried to research system logs, the last messages before REISUB were:
[ 193.019] (WW) AMDGPU(0): flip queue failed: Invalid argument
[ 193.019] (WW) AMDGPU(0): Page flip failed: Invalid argument
And the description of the problems with green artifacts does indeed mention something about flipping. I have no idea what does it mean, but I sorta see the connection.
Found this article, and the comment pretty much sums up my experience with this particular laptop so far. I’ll keep trying the suggested ways of fixing the problem, but it’s just possible my computer is just messed up in an unseen way. And I thought tinkering with Nvidia drivers on the previous laptop was a pain in the ass…
I did what the solution of the thread below suggested:
I inserted amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x10
to /etc/kernel/cmdline
and did sudo reinstall-kernels
following the wiki. After a reboot there were no crashes and/or bugs so far, I get quite good performance while running Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, hopefully will never come back to this topic ever again.
From everything i have ever read or come across the amdgpu modules are far superior than using amd proprietary drivers.
Gotta agree, I haven’t tried them, but I’ve read that the AMD drivers for Linux are subpar. So only 2nd hand knowledge, but from seeing how Nvidia (out of kernel) drivers work out…I’d hate to bring that on myself.
Tl;dr this is absolutely not a driver-related issue. Maybe I should rename this thread. I thought I might fix my problem this way, but later it turned out to be the wrong path to take.
Most likely not since you are using a kernel parameter which disables the panel self refresh. I was just saying the there is usually no need to use the amdpro driver as you get in most cases the same performance or better with the amdgpu kernel modules.
