gn then
Got a root TTY
This could very well be a hardware error.
If it is not, I wholeheartedly recommend trying out a different Linux distribution, like Linux Mint. Consider spending six months to a year using it, and then, if you want, come back to EndeavourOS. You will have significantly less frustration and stress in your life this way.
Setting up Nvidia drivers on any Linux machine is a major pain, and EndeavourOS (which is basically Arch) is not the easiest of distributions. So if you donât know anything about your system, not even what a TTY is, then youâre going to have a very unpleasant time learning all of it at once. Take it one step at a time.
Ditching windoze or mac, and moving to Linux is a great way to improve the quality of your life in the long run, but in the short run, it can be very frustrating. So starting out with something like Arch can be overwhelming and demotivating.
Linux Mint is great, they also have a great community, and you can also stay here, of course, if you have any general questions. Iâm not telling you to go away, just giving you advice on how to make the beginning of your Linux experience less horrible.
thx for the advice buddy, but the thing is i have been an avid linux user for almost 2 yrs now
PS- And yet somehow i never got know what a TTY is
, anyways now i know what it is and am starting to use it
Isnât that like running Windows for years and not knowing what the cmd prompt is?

exactly

Anyways, now that I have the TTY, what do I do??
You can try first to update.
sudo pacman -Syu
@Dank-Foss
So you resolved your issue then?
u sure?? my system is still using the nvidia drivers, also didnt u say this could be caused by power issues or bad memory modules, i would like to test that first cus i dont wanna use unofficial drivers for my graphics, not that i have an issue with them, i just prefer using official stuff, also if GT 710 is out of support on linux then i am almost certain it would get out of support on windows soon, and so i would much rather purchase an amd card and use that instead of buying windows, so could u pls tell me if there is a way to test my power supply or memory or any other thing that could be causing this issue first
I used to have that issue on AMD and amd_iommu=off as a boot option solved it for me. Is there a similar thing for Intel & NVIDIA?
what exactly does amd_iommu=off do??
It disables PCI-E pass-through.
I was asking if you fixed it as you marked solution. I thought it was unable to boot up to the desktop? Is it working now thatâs all i was asking.
where and what did i mark as the solution, also my desktop doesnt boot up if i do a sudo pacman -Syu
Well it was marked the other day but itâs not now. Anyway I just wondered when i saw that because you said you got into a TTY. Just thought you fixed it. Does it boot on the live ISO? Maybe reinstall it and go from there.
buddy, i dont understand what you are saying, after we chrooted the other day i was afraid if my system got messed up so i reverted to a snapshot with 470 installed and am still using that snapshot, what i am asking you is where could be the problem and how can i fix it, what i mean by that is u said the problem could be in the memory or the power supply etc. right, so how can i test that cus tbh i think its an issue in one of those.
@ricklinux i just read Nvidia drops 700 (Kepler) into legacy branch (470xx) - #2 by fbodymechanic and installed the aur drivers and it seems to have fixed the issue , though i will continue testing it, if problems arise i will post it in this thread or maybe create a new one
for now imma mark as the solution
This is what we were trying to do in the first place uninstall the nvidia drivers. If i had of known you could get back to an old snapshot? This doesnât even jive with all what you said previously because you didnât even know how to do these things in the beginning.
it was actually when i was reading through this whole thread again just to see if i missed something that i realised that there was a post regarding nvidia drivers on the home page of the forums and i went there and figured out the rest, also i learnt a lot in the process thx to you, so thank you a lot for that
