Kernel Panic! (Linux BSOD)

Yes, in the old thread i tested an older garuda install i had left over on an external drive, if it counts.

I sadly dont know much about boot parameters, how they work, or where to find them, same for modules… Think I will have to test again, if a current garuda may work, or just a old garuda works… if it doesnt, maybe something else at some point…

That was when I didnt use any of these tools, so might have been hybrid and using intel as it wasnt under load.. what would also explain that i get the excact same errors when using hybrid with envy-control, and different errors when using integrated only, or nvidia?

will try one after the other, even if im not shure if it will make a difference… And yes, the endeavour wiki is very much better to understand, which i used a couple years back to install envy-control where i was even more nooby then i am now. which is also, why endeavour is best :enos:

I tried it already with 575xx and 550xx (not with envycontrol, or prime or similar).. Should I try again with 580xx and see what happens if i use one of these tools?

Also for the note, I will do these things not now, but when i feel better. i currently have very bad migraine, and looking at screens makes it even more painful to a point where i get dizzy and feel sick.. i have this since yesterday evening but i wanted to take time now to reply to all of you because you want to help me and im super thankful to all of you, but i will probably take a day or 2 to feel better to get back to try to fix my laptop :smiling_face_with_tear:

kernel command line parameters can be displayed like this:

cat /proc/cmdline

and modules loaded is displayed like this:

lsmod

So, i now have tried Garuda for now. With more or less success. To be clear, I tried a new and old ISO of it. The current one (garuda-dr460nized-linux-zen-251103.iso) made problems. When booting into the ISO it all seemed to work fine, was loading all drivers etc with no errors, everything was green, but once it said enter grafical interface (or something like that) it went black and my laptop entered this sleepmode thing and went unresponsive.. just like usual.

So I then tried an old ISO I still have leftover, (garuda-dr460nized-linux-zen-250308.iso) and everything went fine (also was a lot faster). The thing that was a lot faster was the “automatic driver install via MHWD” the new ISO used something else starting with “G” i forgot how it was called though, but it took like 2 minutes longer. Anyway, I made an offline install now, as the new ISO already made issues, that wasnt a good sign anyway.

So I am now in this very old Garuda install, I am not shure how useful it is, but I am trying to gather as much information from it as I can…

Also, I noticed that my second monitor is working, but the funny part about this is, on the login screen only, so, this hasnt changed … until i plugged the HDMI cable into the dock/laptop stand i have, then it worked inside the wayland/kde session. but when i plug it into the thunderbolt 3/usb-c port it only works on SDDM/ the login screen… is that a normal thing? I have to test if this also happens on the EndeavourOS side with the LTS-Kernel, but this is kind of interresting…

Also, Garuda has a bunch of tools for information, but i dont know how useful these are (as i am on an old install, else i would paste all of them here now…) should i paste these anyway? or should i install the LTS-Kernel as well and update? so i can use the lts-kernel as the normal/zen kernel will very likely fail? (as it already did in the new iso)
(also, I have very poor internet since yesterday, downloading the iso took like 1 day it failed many times, then today i torrented it also took like 4-5 hours,…for 3,1 GB so you can imagine how long updates currently take me)

@manuel since you talked about prime, garuda ships with it per default, as far as I am aware. but still the current garuda iso gave me the same issues that i have with the mainline kernel… the old iso works similar like the lts kernel without any setups, or even with setups (envy control i tried)… do you think it is still worth to try setting something like this up, or should i do something else? also, could you need any more information from this old garuda install? or should i do something else?

(also sidenote: i feel better now thankfully, my grandma has birthday on jan 10th, so I will be gone there, tomorrow we will do some preparing to surprise her as she helped us a lot in current difficult times, if there are questions i can respond by phone, but cant provide data by laptop)
