KDE connect cant discover device

Im running the latest version of EOS on an MSI sword 15 on Plasma 6. I have the Fdroid version of KDEconnect on my android Nothing phone 1.

My issue: After starting KDEconnect I cant pair the devices, the list is empty.

I have tried both devicees on my home wifi and I have tried using my phone hotspot.

I bluetooth discovery did not work out of the box either but I manadged a workaround by installing blueman wich was able to list available devices.

I have tried the steps from the Arch linux wiki also outlined in this post.

I have tested localsend to see if tcp connection works but ran into similar issues although sometime it can see the other device but its inconsistent.

I would appriciate your help, and thank you for your time

Are you using a VPN by any chance? This shouldn’t affect it, but it might.

Did you open the corresponding ports on your firewall?

I did a combination of the two. Previously I opened the ports on the block profile of my firewall, but now I set it to the trusted profile and set up ports 1714-1764 as udp and tcp (keep in mind to set it as permanent and not just runtime rules). I also Disabled always on vpn on my phone.

I use nord vpn because through a family package its free. I guess it doesnt play well with kde connect. Any known solutions other than a different vpn?

Did you set both the Linux and Android VPN apps to allow network sharing over LAN?

I have a vpn set up on the wifi level not the linux machine. I did not disable that vpn and it allows for the connection wich means it was my phone app that is the culprit.

The Nord vpn mesh feature might work if I set it up.
