There was a Mesa update yesterday is it possible that it is the culprit?
Current version mesa 20.1.0-4

ok booted with 5.7.2 zen and logged in ok with lxdm display manager
Now going to change the display manager back to lightdm, reboot, brb
You naughty little…you are not using endeavouros?
Distro: EndeavourOS
I’ve just updated, it’s all fine
but I’m using the zen kernel ![]()
and swaywm
eh??? where did that come from? This has been endeavouros for like ages

Just updated and I’m good!

I think somewhere along the line you posted output from your “other SSD” lol no worries at least it’s fixed. ![]()
Righto…the zen kernel has made no difference! I still get the ‘knackered’ grey logon screen every other boot!!!
And that wasn’t the output from my other ssd and that’s endeavouros too! it looks like inxi is just picking up whatever it wants ![]()

Go back to 5.4 LTS you are not losing anything!
I don’t give a monkies what it says, it can say it’s the Queen, doesn’t mean it’s true!
You have the Radeon Vega. Are you sure it’s not the Mesa update?
Right so in summary
It doesn’t work with lightdm display manager every other boot BUT is ok with the other display managers
inxi cannot be trusted to report the correct distro

endeavouros/inxi 3.1.00-1 (196.3 KiB 711.0 KiB) (Installed)
ain’t showing me any updates, that’s what must have come with ENDEAVOUROS when I installed it ![]()
Bye ![]()
Arrghhh! That took longer than it should have - have to setfont blind (or nearly so) to even see what I’m doing for the arch-chroot. Downgraded to 5.6.15-arch1-1 and put it on ignore til we find out what’s happening…
If it’s worth anything, I’m using Xfce and lightdm and have no issues with the new kernel (5.7.2-arch1-1).
