JPG to PDF (or text)?

Does anything exist that can extract the text from a JPG image to either a PDF or text document?

If I remember correctly, Google Docs has that feature that when you upload an image with text, it would automatically write those things for you. But, I am not sure if that feature is still active.

If you want to convert your jpg to text (that transition is called OCR), Tesseract will/ can do that if your image is adequate. Sometimes you need to convert jpg to tiff first.

If all you want is non-searchable (non-digitized images) then this site does an excellent job (it may attempt the ocr’ing for you as well). https://www.online-convert.com/

I’ve used gscan2pdf a lot. It works pretty well (and will do things like clean the scan etc. so you can embed both image and text in a PDF).
