after trying EOS some years ago (see my post Bye, EndeavourOS) I am back since beginning of the year. And what can I say? The experience has been truly amazing this time.
I found all my desired software in pacman or the aur, and everything plays nicely together. And moreover, the distro has become really user friendly and well supported through this forum.
I find myself booting EOS more often than SUSE Leap, LMDE, MX or Q4OS nowadays, simply because it WORKS. Meanwhile, I would certainly recommend EOS even over CachyOS or any other arch-based distro, not speaking about arch itself (which is way too complicated for a guy like me).
So please keep the good work and thanks for all your efforts!
Everyone has their own preferences for usability and complexity.
Distro-hopping is a personal journey, hopefully you have (re)landed at your final destination.
Welcome back to purple space
Run EOS 3-years ago on flash drive, I was hooked. Then, no Windows on the bare metal.
So happy, I can tweak the eos the way I like, have the scripts that maintain my EOS. Said scripts can be scheduled as systemd services with timers. KDE is maturing to be a solid DE.
Happy days.
Don’t put yourself down like that!
If you have ran all these distros, arch is very likely not too complicated for you.
The only difference is you have to install every application yourself while the distros come bundled with a bunch of software (and in some cases helper scripts).
And if you already have years of experience of what software you want, running sudo pacman -S <application> is very unlikely to be “too complicated” for you. xD
And since you are also an arch-based veteran, I also have a feeling you know about and has on occasion read the arch wiki and know how good it is.
The archinstall.sh makes installing it a breeze too.
I encourage you to give it a try if you have a spare drive to put it on and still keep EOS as fallback in case it would all go to he**. (which I am certain it wont, I believe in you! xD)
