two things not totally true on this:
- do not overdo selection on mirrors 3 to 4 should be good to go#
- do never update the live-environment! It will break calamares or other used scripts and applications needed to install system!!
two things not totally true on this:
During the install it changes it back. Got this error.
Please paste the install log.
This is likely what it happening then.
Well, we in Asia kind of need to overdo this don’t know about others but I personally had more drops than connections.
You guys should read the first posts, because it’s all in there. Updating and stuff were just things we tested in order to see if pacman works with the mirrorlist generated by reflector. The debug log is also in one of the first posts.
I think I’m in over my head then. If they have internet. . . and it’s not mirrors. . . I’m lost. I’ve done like 100 installs in the last couple weeks, maybe I’m just fried.
Edit: I did read and even quoted from it. Those are my suggestions. I wouldn’t have a clue where else to look. To have good internet, and if it’s not a mirrorlist/failed mirror issue. . . I’ve reached teh end of my knowledge road.

These were the default mirrorlist. I’ve used these and got this:
Fk this I’m out. I’ll just wait it out or I’ll install plasma from xfce if I’m desperate.
Good luck. Maybe someone will come along with better help, I just don’t know how to help further.
online installs will need stable internet connection… or it will timeout
Could you please try this change with the liveuser in file
/etc/calamares/scripts/update-mirrorlist
:
add a line
return
right after line number 81: UseBestMirrorsIfAvailable() {
Then it should look like this:
UseBestMirrorsIfAvailable() { # line 81 return # line 82
Then please try the install again.
This will probably not solve all problems, but we’ll see.
And please show the install log again after this.
yes do that:

Just in case, if internet connection drop is an issue. Could adding --download-timeout 20
to the option in reflector (welcome app, mirror list, bottom right box) and increasing timeout to 20s or similar help?
Edit: I used ventoy and no problem.
I’ve added return
to the list
Got these errors:
The install log upload was unsuccessful.
What countries are you selecting when updating mirrors?
Ventoy? Never!
Edit: Has to be an issue with the mirror list.
World Wide, India, United States. There are what I would select if I have to do it manually
Germany and United States have many good mirrors, so I’d recommend them in case of mirror problems.
I don’t think i would pick world wide myself.
