Installing on notebook via ethernet cable. Started twice install stops at 32% with no error message. Stopped for 45 minutes. Why no error? If I install offline it doesn’t offer me the XFCE desktop.
can you show us the install log?
Have you made sure to update the mirrors?
How can I do that if I don’t have a working OS?
When you are running the live enviroment there is an option in the welcome part where you can share the logs
I took the simple root and installed offline successfully . Please tell me how to change from the installed KDE to XFCE,
Here is a link, I would however try just install it instead of having both as you may run into issues
Thanks for the speedy response. Yes I tried that with sudo pacman -S xfce4, but it can’t connect to a German site.
No because when I click on “Update mirrors” I get
reflector:Fetching information from https://www.archlinux.org failed
do you have an option to use rate-mirrors? that may work
I don’t see that option anywhere.
I will try an online install once again.
Very odd. It stopped at 32% again. The drive action light showed no activity and the same on my router, but when I pushed the power button to shut down it jumped to 85% and continued the install and I now have something that works with XFCE, Thanks for the support.
how much RAM is installed on that device?
Never saw such freeze.
On the installer window is also a button to toggle logs on and off right of the progress bar .. With this you can see the log of the installer. And on the bottom bar of the Desktop you have a button for the log tool in case too. If installer would fail or crash it would show a popup with the option to share log too.
It seems to me that the laptop is going into some sort of inactive mode even though it’s connected. What would be helpful is providing the hardware output from the live ISO. You can post the url.
inxi -Faz | eos-sendlog
8 GB. Hopefully “With this you can see the log of the installer” I won’t need that next time.
Done as requested.
Well i don’t see any url that you posted for the hardware output? You have to post the url here.
