There is a list of the mirrors on the website but it doesn’t have as much info as those.
You can just look in /etc/pacman.d/endeavouros-mirrorlist

While I don’t think it’s necessary to have an online portal mirrorlist status users can view like the one’s I mentioned above, it definitely is a nice bonus to have. I wonder if it’s something EndeavourOS team could setup in the future. I personally check those server status when I am on those distros, but truthfully I have no clue if most users would find something like that super useful or not. I may be just a bit of a status nerd
Hmm… I came to EndeavourOS by way of Garuda, so possibly Garuda or straight Arch.
Otherwise, I’d probably say Zorin OS, Pop-OS, or straight Ubuntu.
Given that only a handful of packages come from the EndeavourOS repo, I think it would be more useful to check the status of the Arch mirrors, personally.
That being said, if you think it is worthwhile you might make a separate post about it since it probably won’t get noticed here.
Garuda is arch with manjaro suite haha… they forked everything… i saw lastly also manjaro-tools forked. Its a rewritr of a fork of archiso mix with chakraos…you also need aufs …beside all mhwd stuf is part straight arch rest its own too
Debian. I’ve been using it in some form or fashion for nearly 25 years now…
I multi-boot. On my newest system I have siduction 2021, Debian, PCLinuxOS and EndeavorOS. I had KDE Neon, which I recently replaced with Debian Bullseye (11), which is nearing a new release.
#1 MX
#2 Mint (Cinnamon)
#3 Garuda (xfce)
I looked at Solus/Budgie today, another rolling release, to see if it it was a viable option if Arch ever died. Not a bad distro, Budgie is my fav GTK-based desktop, better than Gnome, but the distro’s repos didn’t have all the apps I use. Adding ‘Global Menus’ to Budgie was easy, but it didn’t work fully. I guess after some investigation, Ubuntu neutered global menus starting with 20.0 or something, so that was a big . I love my global menus, especially on a laptop.
I must say, after distro-hopping/testing, one sure appreciates Arch/EnOS and its simplicity and expansive software (AUR.)
Don’t think arch gone die mayby there will be born new distro’s from it mayby who will say… but it has a organisation… if one falls out one can fill the void a bit… things like the aur also they always scouting for some talents… Distro’s thats general 3 a 4 populated s always a number that comes and go… is very depended general. Mostly if you do work and distro in free time.
Since you prefer plasma, why didn’t you try Solus plasma?
If not EndeavourOS, is it legit to choose an official “Arch-way” build of Arch… with the EnOS repo added? I have a couple of those already…
Back in March 2020, I was going to install Manjaro. While the ISO downloaded (which takes quite some time for me), I was searching for a certain GRUB issue and discovered this forum. I liked the forum theme, so switched my mind from Manjaro to EnOS. Yeah thats how I landed here…
Probably I’d have left Manajro in first week and used Arch…
Or if not Arch, then Pop OS.
Non-rolling stable use cases: Linux Mint Debian Edition
Most everything else: Garuda
I was going to try the plasma version next, but after discovering a lot of apps missing from their repos that I use, I soured.
I’m too picky when it comes to selecting a distribution. I used to adore and pick up almost any Ubuntu-based distribution but after Ubuntu tried Unity and they kind of distanced themselves from the community I kind of distanced myself from those distributions.
I like MX Linux not because it’s listed as the number one in DW but because it’s independent of Ubuntu. I liked Pop!_OS but being Ubuntu-based kind of made me not select it.
If EnOS dies I might go with vanilla Arch + XFCE or AwesomeWM or even use MX Linux. I love to tinker around that’s why I like distros wtih XFCE or any other configurable DE or distribution.
What, you have a couple of FendavourOS machines running?!? I’m going to report you on the Arch forum…
i run Debian, on my second pc, set up with permanent debian testing repos, that would mean a kind of rolling Debian, … so I like the idea, and look now how it plays out
I think I would install Arch, or Arcolinux.
I have Pop!_OS on my HTPC, since I don’t want to update this thing on a daily basis.
I’ve only gone there a couple of times - even trying to do it their way doesn’t necessarily turn out well
