How many of your devices are running Linux?

It’s official… I am now a whole and complete Linux nerd.

For a long while, I had about a dozen of my devices running Linux, with the remaining 2 running macOS. I decided a few days ago that apple can burn in hell and went ahead with installing Asahi Fedora on the remaining two devices. I also installed GrapheneOS on my mobile.

Best decision I ever made.

Goodbye, Apple, Microsoft and Google for good

3 devices, my desktop and two laptops. My desktop is EnOS Xfce, my laptops are running Void DWM and the other running EnOS Lxqt.

Imo Graphene is the most important project on the planet currently. And it’s fantastic!

A desktop and a laptop running EndeavourOS and another desktop running FreeBSD. That’s it.

All of Them

I’m just counting 2 devices in my life. 12 Devices is really the “Linux Nerd” part  .

That truly is amazing; mad respect.
When open source hardware finally takes off may linux be truly autonomous…

1 Desktop has dual boot with Linux (Debian 12) & Windows 11.
10 laptops all are Linux exclusively (2 Debian 12, 3 EndeavourOS, 3 OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, and 2 KDE Neon)
I guess technically my phone is since it’s Android.

I have two laptops.
The daily driver runs exclusively EndeavourOS, the secondary machine is MX & Win10 dual boot (sadly, driver issues on the Linux side).
And the phone runs Android, but since it’s Samsung’s One UI I don’t know if that even counts.

My phone is a Sony which is pretty much like a Google phone running vanilla Android. It’s not open source but it doesn’t have an ‘overlay’ like most phones do. Your choice is your own of course.

There are two.

My main PC, where I have various distros such as Arch, EOS, Makulu and Openmamba (as well as W11 which I practically don’t use anymore 99% of the time).

And a minipc where I have EOS.

On the main PC I still have a free hard disk where I can put a distro, I was always thinking of an arch based one: Garuda I would say no, it may seem simpler for a novice like me, but in my experience it was a very “mangy” distro since it gave me one problem after another.

I tried Manjaro, it’s not bad in the end, again for a neophyte who doesn’t want too many shocks, but well, I don’t know.

Advice on an Arch-based distro that is suitable for a newbie?

Everything is running Linux. Desktop, laptop, and 8 servers. Yeah I didn’t realize the last one until I counted them for this. And no, those aren’t VMs, that’s bare metal. Let’s not talk about VMs, okay? Yeah, good idea…

Currently running stock, Google Android. I’d love to run Graphene (and did for several months), but there is an app I need for my business that I could not get to ever work. Sadly, I had to go back to stock. And the image of Lineage for my phone had far too many bugs (yes I realize that comparing Graphene to Lineage is like comparing an orange and Mars bar).

Between laptops and VMs currently 7 but in the winter I’m usually around 10 or more because of VMs.

2 PCs. 1 Mini PC Running EndeavorOS Budgie which I run about 6 VMs on as well. Then a Raspberry Pie running Debian.

1 Desktop and 3 Laptops are on EndeavourOS, 1 Laptop is on Linux Mint. There is also a Pi4B 4GB with Ubuntu Server 24.04 LTS with Pihole and Unbound. My Phone is on GrapheneOS.

There is no Windows or MacOS.

Edit: There is also a Selfbuild NAS here with TrueNas Core.

I just have 2 devices. A MacMini running EndeavourOS. And a 15" Samsung Galaxy Book Pro running Solus.

I only have one computer and it runs this OS. I guess my phone runs Linux since it is Android, but I don’t know if that is considered Linux in this space, honestly.

So much confusion. Forget VMs let’s go bare metal non dual-boot. Who has got the guts? I’ve been doing it the last 12 years as my only computers. Who the hell needs Windows or VMs unless your job demands it?

I have 3 devices that run Linux. I run Linux on my desktop(Endeavouros), my laptop(Arch), and my steam deck(Steamos). I also have Graphene on my phone.
